Love the analysis. May I make a suggestion. When looking at charts over 20 to 30 years you should use a logarithmic chart to compare the various periods.Llinear charts stongly favour recent events in appearance. Bring on the the next 10 stocks with logarithmic charts.

I think it’s great to clearly see that historical behaviour is not a guarantee for the future (ie:last 30 years compared to last 10, and of course next 10). But the method is also another great tool to add to the toolkit to increase probability of picking winners.

@@adamwaz5615 absolutely Adam. Inflation is way too high and if they back off it will flare up and get out of control again. They are too late and too soft. Sadly they'll probably bow to media pressure

@@WealthWithin I like the historical evaluation of yearly performance to give an estimation of what the longterm prospects might look like in future and would love to see also the suggested values clustered in different gain-/loss-ranges (3 times it rose 30-40%, 2 times it rose 20-30%, etc) as Dale mentioned. If I'd had the spreadsheet myself I'd run that clustering in a few minutes myself (and share it with you of course ;-)) All the best and happy easter holidays!

Loved the charts. Yes more pls. Read your book, and just enrolled in Dip Course. Used Chat GPT to produce very similar chart a week ago. Top 20, hi/lo per year for past 10 yrs. Thought of this following the example in your book and the movement of blue chips within a year which is so interesting. So, great work...so far . Get Chat GPT to do your excels...😂

@@WealthWithin What I found very important was the discussion between Dale and Janine on whether stocks are currently trading on fundamental value or emotional value. Also with reference to the spreadsheet, Dale's comment as to whether it is easier to trade a stock (CSL) that is up 90% of the time compared to some of the big banks Westpac, NAB & ANZ which are up 50% and down 50%. This was a great discussion and the insight from both Dale and Janine was pure Gold!

Of course if, for example, BHP has a 50% down year it needs a 100% up year to get back to even (excluding any dividend income).

That's the thing that plays with your head. Statistically, it seems like double the work to return to the original price (100% gain vs a 50% loss). But technically it is the same shares being bought and sold.
