This video was really well done. I especially appreciate the subtitles explaining what was going on. And of course, much respect to the men who risk their lives to help others.

I’m not a firefighter to know what’s right and wrong necessarily but I do hope your videos are being shown around the country in training. I’ve become an addict watching them and have learned a ton about fire and how you guys work fires by watching. Thanks for the great work and I dare say entertainment for us non firefighters.

I have to say, these Stockton videos are the best out there, including how most vids show a beforehand view of the structures that are on fire which I really like. Not to mention that they are always on point and professional with the job they do. Much thanks and praise for all you guys!!

I live in Pennsylvania, far from Stockton, California. Thank you for the well done video of the Stockton FD. This community is blessed with such dedicated and well skilled first responders. Praying you all stay safe.
@Bryan-Hensley5 жыл бұрын
When I saw the statistics of the firehouses per population, I came on the comments just to see if Stockton was in a Democrat State. Guess what. It is. In Stockton the population per firehouse is 25,000. In my RED CONSERVATIVE State town it's 4,250 per firehouse. It's unreal how that city has ignored the firefighters. They need 10 times what they have.
@shelbymccoy39365 жыл бұрын
@@Bryan-Hensley Thanks for sharing those staggering statistics. As I have looked at our local fire companies in PA, we have a great shortage of first responders of any kind. Our fire companies are mostly volunteer. The ones that are paid are not, in my opinion, paid near enough for what they do for society. One day we are going to need someone to come to our rescue and there won't be anybody that will arrive. We all can't be firefighters, etc. but we can support them with our presence and our substance.
@marshamoore83854 жыл бұрын

On a Fire like this we would pull in Germany about 120 Firefighters from not then less as 6 Stations around. (Voulenteer Firefighters). A Town like Stockton in Germany would have for sure paied Firefighters in serveral Stations.But much more than 12 for sure. For Example Augburg,Bavaria about 300000 People live there the have2 Paied Firestations 24 h/365 on Duty. But they have also 8 Voulenteer Firestations and if that is not enough the Augburg County outside of theTown ,where also serveral smaller Firestations are can aid. The Augburg County have 250000 People living there and 132 (!!) Firestations. Means many smaller Villages arount the big Town have at least a Firetuck , hose who are near Highways more. A Firestation in Germany have in small Village often about 35 to 50, bigger Stations up over 150 active Members,who get called out by Pager ,sms and Sirens. If needed the County Alarming System can call as much Firefighters you needed. There are also Groups for Watersupply, Forrest fire , Fire Fighting ,Water rescue, with only 1 Verhicle from each Station ,the make sure that the Fire Protection at Home is still guareteered.

I like the way their playbook works, the battalion commander is calling what he needs, the next engine in is listening to the radio and grabs the job while informing battalion. That gets stuff done FAST, I think that is the ONLY WAY they caught this fire. I think Stockton sets the standard on the west coast, busy, experienced and not going to have whole companies standing around when there is something to be down - aside from the RIT-

@joeloveland6283 Жыл бұрын
Speed of the fire spread, wind spreading embers that could spark additional fires in surrounding houses, size of the house, need for other water sources, rest and rehab of the 1st alarm crews. Those are some of the reasons.
@greenmanofkent3 жыл бұрын
Only four engines to protect a city of 300,000 while this fire was in progress? That's absurd; only one fire away from a calamity. How does the state of California allow this situation to continue? (Granted, it was five years ago, and it may have improved since.). Surely the state legislators can see this is a dangerous situation.

What is an operator?
@ckotterman4 жыл бұрын
from the SFD website: "One Chief Operator is also on duty to assist the Battalion Chiefs with staffing levels and emergency scene accountability and safety." I don't know about Stockton, but in departments around here (PHX, AZ) battalions are staffed with a chief and a captain who drives the chief's vehicle. This person is often referred to as a Battalion Safety Officer (BSO). On a fire ground the captain/driver's job is to be the chief's extra eyes and ears so that he or she can give full attention to the incident. It looks from the videos like SFD does not have that two-person staffing model, so the "operator" responds as a separate unit to assist whichever chief(s) are on scene as that second person. That is my somewhat educated guess.
