Stoeger STR-9MC Vs Smith & Wesson Shield Plus. Head to head comparison

Sub compact handguns seemingly offer the best of both worlds (a gun that is easily concealed, while handling like a larger handgun). In my opinion, there are a select few that truly do this. In this video, I follow up a previous review of Stoeger’s STR-9mc. I decided to see how it stacks up against one of my favorites. Smith & Wesson’s Shield plus. I hope you enjoy the video.

I just bought the STR-9MC today. Upon getting home, I found I had a 10 and 13 round magazine, both with extended pinky base plates. Both DO lock the slide back. I never rely on the slide locking back as I typically ride the slide release, meaning odds of the slide locking back (on any gun not prefixed with CZ) are a flip of the coin. As to the price comparison, you said they are essentially the same, but with the rebate, the Stoeger is $100 less (75% of the Shield's price) so I'd definitely give the Stoeger the advantage (though accessories would be cheaper for the Shield, so eventually it'd even out). I had the same issue with the slide not locking back with extended mag. I sent it back to Stoeger, it took about 4 weeks to get it back, here are the details of the repair; Replaced follower in extended mag. Replaced the slide lock lever. I have put 100 rds 115 gr. 100 rds. 147 gr.(which is my defense rd) The problem seems to be solved for now and hopefully forever.

The shield is too heavy for its size since micros are known for being 17-18 oz. The only thing the shield has going for it is the brand name

🛡+TS tlr6 🚫laser all day over all the other micros out for it’s size but G26/23 are the only two you’ll ever need,however nowadays better to keep the precious’s locked away and EDC the budgets SD9VE🪶👑/ 🛡+ comfiest reliable budget combo out plus the SD9 fits all Mp9 4.25 tlr1/7 holsters, id stick to all old hinge triggered SW’s for reliability OG SD9VE/2.0 compact/3.6/🛡+ for capacity tho,but never ♉️🚮the 🛡+ TS is the reliable G3C 🤣
