I fished with alaskan anglers a couple years ago and it is a phenomenal fish camp. John and his family took great care of us. First class all the way!!

Great trip people. Alaska is definitely #1 on my bucket list. Delicious food in the lodge too. 😋

For those swim baits getting pulled down, you can solve that with a dab of crazy glue. Put a dab on the hook shank when you slide the swim bait up. No more pants down and they fish better and longer. 👍🏻

The way they treated the fish was second to none. That alone should show anyone looking to go why they are an obvious choice!!

You serious? I live in Alaska, the past 44 years, and as a guide, you actually think harpooning a halibut up here is unusual???😳🤪😂

In AK, Halibut under 40 are netted; from 40 to about 70 lbs they are harpooned, the big ones are shooters! Shot with .410 buck before brining it aboard to do damage.

Gaff over 20 to 80lbs harpoon over 80 if you intend to retain. I use a Ruger stainless SP101 357 stops them from kicking and flipping also up here in Cook Inlet and Kachemak bay down the road from me. At least for the past 40 years that I have fished South Centeral Alaska.

@@chuckjohnston6707 Most all charters use .410;s; I believe no chance of a skip. We only did 38 years (1967-2004) in AK; Fairbanks, Anchorage and Palmer. Fished butts from Homer, Seward, Whittier; mostly Salt Water Safari and Silver Fox.

Those are babies, perfect eating size. But I have personally seen 525. Yes I worked in the longline industry late 80s early 90s.

@@kellyhayes8821 Your full of it. I actually live in Alaska, been a fishing guide for years up here. Your full of crap! Sport caught record is 469 caught outside of Dutch harbor! Typical AK wannabe. Nothing new to us longtime Alaskan’s!😳🤪😂

I don't know where the got the "black bass" from? They are black rockfish as the captain said.
@jason663966396 күн бұрын
It’s pretty common the call them black bass, black sea bass etc.

Why gaff that small 1st halibut right in the main fillet?
@duckwacker87207 күн бұрын
They give your fish to others on the boat? I catch my fish first and keep my limits first. Then anything over that others get. I've had to explain that to deckhands on charters before. There's a reason why I bring my own cooler.

Rick is part of our group, he comes along with us on almost every trip! Also I put a time stamp on the top so you can skip straight to the fish.
