I was wondering , wouldn't it make sense to lap the small patch under the skin so that water n air would wick over as well as for strength ? A small detail n suggestion. Thank you for the video . Great product and instruction.

peter Seisa soulsurffer , I agree with your comment. I have always thought layers would be to the leading edge of an aircraft, just as shingles are placed on a roof to deflect water.... No answer though. What a shame.

what material is the plane chassis made of
@indyflyer
@indyflyer 7 ай бұрын
Main Fuselage (Chassis) is built in 2 sections: A front section, which comprises the area from the firewall, where the engine is mounted from, through the seat section. The rear section is comprised of the area aft of the flight deck and continues to finish the main body. All of the aluminum is the same 6061 T6 material . There is a steel cage roll over section which attach the two sections together. That material is an aircraft grade 4130 chrome moly steel. Most if not all holes are pre drilled, most if not all are final sized. There are numerous Utube videos that show the construction of those components.

Question Rodger: Why did you put the last piece in by tucking it under the corner piece of rudder?? Is that not a way for rain and wind to enter the tail ? I guess it makes more sense doing it with the overlap for weather and aerodynamic purposes. Now I know this is a demo on how to, but would that not be a better way of demonstrating the build of the wing? Or will that last piece rub on the end of Fuselage? I always try to defend you but being spot on with these videos is a must! Just like flying being precise is a must! Thanks for the effort.

Yes, at least in the US. In Canada you need to leave parts open for the inspector to look inside before fully closing it up, I believe.

+Zenith Aircraft Company Hi there, can you pleases tell me, what is the gauge of the aluminum? at 11:55 you were saying "remove my existing quicker or clicker" What is that how do you call it correctly, or can you please explain it what it is, what does it do by placing it?
@thericky1
@thericky1 6 жыл бұрын
It's called a 'cleco' and serves as a temporary rivet, holding pieces together until you actually rivet it together. Kind of like when you tape two objects together for alignment before gluing/nailing/screwing (or something) them together

The entire build was for all intents and purposes done without reference to the building instructions which a first time builder should never do. I would like to have seen an example of drilling out a rivet rather that the casual reference "it's easy to do." I never did understand the purpose of the block placed under one of the beams nor why the repeated reference in pronunciation to the plural form "blocks" when only one block was used. The camera holder (sounded like Sebastien Heintz) did try to bring these two experienced and fast workers down to reality for the sake of first time homebuilders but they would just take right back off again seeming to try and set a record for how fast one of these rudder assemblies could be built. The older assistant tended to mumble and as a result was often not heard clearly enough to be understood.

if you're having a hard time understanding try watching it again. if you still don't get it I don't know that building your own plane is in your future. I've never worked on a plane and this all seems elementary.

Up to the builder how to apply the corrosion protection to the aluminum. I lived several years near Tallahassee and Sarasota and that is close enough to the ocean to be a threat to the plane. In fact, now I'm in Central Georgia and thinking of applying corrosion 200 miles from the coast.
