One of my favorites. Hits you right in the heart. If this song doesn’t evoke any emotion in you, you’re either dead inside or a robot.

What a great scene that was. You could feel the heartbreak that Freddy(Stallone) was going through.

On this particular album the River we see Bruce unite two contrasting themes and moods with thoughtful and deep and darker introspective song writing that shows the elusive nature of the American dream pointing to economic insecurity and and hardship combined with a sense of community and connecting with people being outgoing and extroverted M

I met a little girl and I settled down In a little house out on the edge of town We got married, and swore we'd never part Then little by little we drifted from each other's hearts At first I thought it was just restlessness That would fade as time went by and our love grew deep In the end it was something more I guess That tore us apart and made us weep And I'm driving a stolen car Down on Eldridge Avenue Each night I wait to get caught But I never do She asked if I remembered the letters I wrote When our love was young and bold She said last night she read those letters And they made her feel one hundred years old And I'm driving a stolen car On a pitch black night And I'm telling myself I'm gonna be alright But I ride by night and I travel in fear That in this darkness I will disappear

"Stolen Car" is an inner-directed, psychological song that deals with a failing marriage. The protagonist of "Stolen Car" is driven by his loneliness to car theft, hoping to get caught but fearing to just disappear. Essentially, he wants to get arrested just to prove he exists.

Great performance. I wish his songs were more like this, simple. A lot over his stuff was over produced and would drown out the lyrics. Thunder Road for instance is much better with just a guitar or piano. Just my opinion, YMMV.
