In this episode i use two Digitech Guitar pedals,
The Obscura and the Polara, with the Microbrute Monosynth to create a selection of stereo soundscapes.

Digitech killed it my opinion with the this pedal range the reason the polara sounds out of this world is all the reverb settings are studio quality lexicon reverbs some of you who have been around for a while will know how popular lexicon reverbs were and in some studios still are, the Polara reverb, Obscura delay and Nautilus chorus pedals are all amazing sounding with synths, so good you may think twice about selling synths you previously got bored of in the past 😎 buy one or all of them you will not be disappointed my friends.

Great vid! I love adding effects to synths! You might try changing your chain to microbrute>delay>reverb; it's a personal preference but I believe improves the overall sound.

oh wow. excellent timing. at this moment you definitely convinced me with the polara as i am looking for a serious reverb to combine with my synth an the boss spaceechoe. your performance brings over everything i was looking for. especially when knowing the pure microbrutesound the effect of these devices is well illustrated. very lush soundscapes, right now running in loop ;-) maybe you should do a longer live ambient session. really tasteful stuff. greetings from germany.

These two sound great together. Let’s say you were to compose a full song with this jam session as the key element, what would be your workflow. I’ve been jamming like this for some time as a noob but haven’t figured out a sensible workflow to get this kind of material to a finished song.

run the pedals thru a mixers aux send that way you can control the amount of effects like a wet/dry and then run the sounds via midi til you get the sound you desire

That's epic- what a gorgeous sound. I've kind of mothballed my brute thinking I'd done everything I could with it...I need to explore pedals now...

Well, as usual I'm a little late to the party. This finally kicked me off the fence and I'll be enjoying both pedals this weekend. They'll be a big upgrade compared to what I've been using (behringer reverb machine and a couple of digitech digidelays). Thanks for this and looking to seeing/hearing you soon (subscribed)!

I've heard a few people talk about this combination of pedals from Digitech, above and beyond any other combination, for making very lush & verdant sounds.

I know they're cheap and they don't compare to high-end, boutique models, but if you're on a budget, try both the Echo Machine and the Reverb Machine from Behringer. They're superb for the price and offer a ton of options.

Shhhhh! Don't give away our secret. I use my microbrute through a digitech (hardwire) supernatural and Boss DD6. If I'm feeling a bit retro I can always throw in my EHX small stone or bad stone. The Obscura and Polara are a bit of a bargain at around £120-130 (though they were cheaper pre-Brexit).

really nice. Good with the talk first, and then uninterrupted sounds. Got some tips there listening and looking at your settings. Hope you make more educational videos like this, with synth and boxes. Btw have you been able to make infinite repeat with the analog setting on the Obscura?

Sweet vid man, I'm gonna try my mxr super badass (dist. pedal) with my monologue when i get home. Also does the same go for multi fx pedals? I have my eye on one and never thought about using it with a synth, just guitar, has anybody tried a synth with multi fx pedal?

Very nice soundscapes! I've just bought the Brute, and already have a lot of pedals like delay, verbs and more. I'm trying to understand - is the delay on one setting in your video paired with an octave up effect?
@ThesisOfSyn
@ThesisOfSyn 7 жыл бұрын
hey, no its only the polara and the obscura, the higher tones come from the polara's HALO setting. It adds like a shimmer pitchy thing thats just lovely on anything
@NordicKayaker

Very cool! I have an EHX delay that can add another effect in a loop, thinking of combining an octave up pedal here. Thank you for an inspiring video :)

People should be aware of that not all guitar pedals can handle synth level output and will end up sounding more or less bad. This is due to guitar having different impedance and output. Many synths(like mini and micro brutes) can adjust the output volume, but to get the most out of pedals(and to be able to use all pedals even with synths that doeseny have output volume adjust), you need a DI box before the pedals.
@markuskoivisto
@markuskoivisto 6 жыл бұрын
Yrjö Puska if a pedal can run in an fx loop (line level signal), it can handle synths. If not you need a re-amp box.

Ok the effect of delay and reverb is well known since 30 years. And don't forget those big spaces are totally unusable in a band/song context.
