I have the bent 110 mounted at -2 (180 for 180cm/70kg). Went for it after reading a lot about the mount point and experiencing the armada tracers which on paper seemed similar (lightweight, fairly flexy). defenitly not a freestyle-y guy, but love these skis set up like this, very playfull and quick, no regrets despite most reviews putting these is a freestyle only category!

For what it's worth I've seen a number of reviews saying that last years and this years Bent 110's are the same builds, just different graphics. The Bent 90 also didn't change this year but got new graphics. However, the Bent 100 and 120's both received the new builds this year

Have you skied the backland 117 ? Looking for a powder ski for touring and some resort laps. It’s a bit heavier than the 107, which might be a good thing? Or is it still a bit too light for when the snow is heavier/crud or skied out? Currently skiing a Nordics enforcer 104 free day to day in the resort and took out my backland 95s for a tour last weekend and it felt so sketchy with the ski getting so easily knocked out of line, so I backtracked my ideas for the wider backland a bit. Or do the models above 100mm ski better/more like a free ride ski than the ones below?

I ride bent 110, and from nearly getting caught in an avalanche, I just cannot find myself riding big open faces. So for me I only ride forrest skiing and hike up to build jumps. For me those works perfect. (I know avalanches can go through forrested area’s, but it happened in an open face)

Great review Jens! Your reviews brought me to the Bent realm. Question: I really cant match the perfect lenght. At 174 and pretty light 65kg I find Bent 100 at 180cm on the long side for tight tree skiing. However, Bent 110 has a lot of rocker and I am worried that 172 would be too short. Are they ski significantly shorter or true to size? Best of both worlds should be Bent 120 in 176 but it is a bit overkill at that width.
@ttankeАй бұрын
I'd go 172 with the Bent if you're having problems with the 180. I'm the same weight as you. I'm only 3cm taller, so pretty much the same, I guess I could say. And I ski a 100mm @174cm, where only each ski is already 170g heavier than the new Bents @179. Add to that that I have demo bindings on them, so overall, it's a heavy setup, and I definitely wish I had something lighter (or maybe shorter?). If you want to stay on the 100 go shorter. Don't worry about it. If you do want to go wider though, go for the 180.
@StompItTutorialsАй бұрын
Get something around 180cm as the skis got a fair bit of rocker and with often the case reccomended mounting point on the 110s they dont feel long.

Hello, i have a question about the Backland Tour Binding. How is the Power Transfer with wider Skis like the Bents or the new Backland 109. Does the stopper act as a kind of spacer on which the sole of the ski boot rests to generate better power transmission?
@StompItTutorialsАй бұрын
Good question. You do stand with the heel on the break but I can still feel a loss of grip on the tail on the ski compared to an alpine binding like the shift binding.

@@StompItTutorials i did Racing in the past and got 2 years ago a pair of twin tip skiers. I can control them good in half pipe, but awful at doing tricks
@ttankeАй бұрын
Don't let yourself be fooled by the marketing terms. Manufacturers need to name their stuff somehow, and that's how they do it. Obviously, there's a reason behind the name, because racers will resort to these boots given the tight fit and the need of extreme control for short periods of time, but don't get hung up on it. Racing boot doesn't mean you can only use it on the race course. What it actually refers to is more to the last/overall volume of the boot, meaning: race boots will be low volume and have a smaller last. I've always had problems with boots, no seemed to fit me, because I have small funny feet, but everything changed when I got into a small last/low volume "racing boot". It just fit and I felt in control. The power transmission was awesome and I don't race at all, I'm more all mountain/freestyle/freeride. Don't try to force yourself into a cool Dalbello/K2 Flex freestyle boot. If it doesn't fit, it's useless. Take away is: there's nothing wrong with a race boot as your everyday all mountain do everything boot, AS LONG AS IT FITS. In fact, many pro's to that. Not all feet are the same.

Did i make a good decision by purchasing the volkl revolt 104 2025 instead of getting the atomic bent 90 2025? I want a ski that will be good for all-mountain, but i mostly ski off-piste or in the park so i figured a wider ski would be better for me. Got the volkl revolt 104 180cm also with a significant price difference around 150 euros.
@kokibr91Ай бұрын
Revolt line is quote heavy and stiff, big mountain ski. No surprise that guys like Markus Eder are riding them. Bent line is very different and you dont see it in FWT for example. It completely corresponds to what Jens said about skiing open faces.
@patrion6028Ай бұрын
@@kokibr91 I don't think that holds true for all Revolts. From what i've heared, the 114 is sort of an outlier in terms of stiffness and usage, way more directional than the other skis in the line. @Hector-kn5fs I think you nailed it given your desired application.

@@StompItTutorials i have 172 bent 110's, last year red/yellow graphics. I am 170 myself with around 70kg.. I felt like they are a bit too skinny/short when really deep powder (40cm or more). Mountain point however is at -2cm from recommended, so like -5 from true center. Since I go to Japan (myoko) end of january, I wonder if this ski will be working out fine or if I should take a bent 120 or a 110 in 180cm version. The choice of length becomes even more important since my son of 18 is 173cm and 66kga nd has no pow ski yet. What would you recommend to buy for him , in first instance for japow but in second so that we can swap ski's around when going on trips separately.

@pandy999Ай бұрын
Well technically yes you can, but you're not going to float nearly as much as on a wider powder oriented ski, so you're not going to have much of that floating sensation that is that satisfying on powder.

Used to be the only way. Maybe if you're really skinny and the skis are like 200+. Also you better not stop.

Hi Jens, i have been using Look Pivot 15 for a long time now, and am considering the Salomon Strive 14/16 for future use. Have you used these bindings yet? And if so how do you find them? They have a moving anti-friction device under the toe and one reason i moved to Pivots was to avoid the moving AFD plates as i had 2 pairs of binding fail because of these AFDs and the manufacturer would not replace them.... So i have stayed away from any binding with AFDs as a result of that.
