Hi Jordie, recognised the petrified wood as I was recently given quite a big chunk. Won’t be carving it as I’m going to slice it open and display it on a wooden base which I’ll make. Really like how it looks. All the best from Australia 🇦🇺

Thanks Jordy, great experiment with the stone, I always wondered how difficult it might be. The use of constant water around electrical tools is the main issue, but worth thinking about all the same.

Good Morning Jordy .....Great content !!!! I use to do flooring and ceremic tile was one type of floor I installed .I later got into granite as well as slate then advanced to doing stone fireplaces and hot tubs with stone around them...Just recently I was looking into carving a bathroom sink from a huge stone....I wanted to mention that I had learned that the dust from stone can really affect your health can even cause premature death....You would have to Google it to know the exact medical term but it does have one.....I used wet saws which prevent dust but my grinders were to dangerous to use water so I used a auto body resperator but they are not cheap and after covid I've learned to hate any type of mask but this type is big and bulky......Anyway very interesting video I like stone carving it intrest me but I did want to tell you about that dust.....I enhaled a fair amount before I found this info out......Today with Google it's easy to find out but wasn't back a few decades ago

Silicosis is a lung disease. It usually happens in jobs where you breathe in dust that contains silica. That's a tiny crystal found in sand, rock, or mineral ores like quartz.

Incorporate it into a fountain so the water flows across the face to keep those grains and colors showing.

Hi there, I joined a rock club here in BC, Richmond Gem and Mineral Society, I’m interested in carving. Not really interested in cabachons, I think they’re a bit boring. Would be amazing if you could do a presentation for our club one day :) I’m watching your videos and I am getting some tools this summer.

Hi there, I'm not to sure what that word means u said u are not interested in? I have carved a few types of stone now soo.. Anyways I'll look up the club and if u would like you could email me @canadian1dude@gmail.com or add Me on fb

@@CarvingFusion most rock clubs focus on teaching how to make cabachons, that’s where you polish a stone down to a small shape with flat back to use for jewelry (rings and pendants). I am interested in sculpting stones into figures. I am interested in trying soapstone, and this was such a good video demonstration. I will forward your email to our program coordinator :D I know you do mostly wood, and understandably hard stone is a pain in the butt, but your soapstone work looks like a very similar technique to wood.

I like your videos, but man you go on tangents, it's too long of a video, and you also have sped-up parts. I would love to watch, but it's just so much downtime with you explaining some not-essential stuff. Try planning out your video beforehand, list the main topic, explanations and steps and then go through each step in your mind. It would be very good especially for first time watchers

Hi Jordy, Always liked your channel. Have you tried any alabaster, just a little harder than soapstone. I've done sculptures with just handtools, such as files. Anyhoo, I'm tryin to source some soapstone. Especially sources in New England that I can drive to, since shipping is getting crazy. So, if you or your peeps can help.

Yes I have carved it, and yes a little harder then soap stone, I'm sure shipping would cost you a fortune
