Wow, wow, wow. Sorry, but machines will never replace the Artisan. I have watched machines do amazing things but none as amazing as the talent this man possesses. I flunked orthographic projection class (lol) so I'm amazed that another human does this kind of work. Just can't visualize things in 3 dimensions. Beautiful piece of work. Talented and patient. Is this company related to Thornton Tomasetti Structural Engineers in Philly? I remember them when I was a kid and I think my sister worked there if I am not mistaken. at 27:48 the very moment the guy removes the broken chunks of rock, the only thing I could think is that this looks like "Scoop Marks". Ive been watching a lot about ancient Egypt lately and was astonished by the scoop marks seen in Aswan Quarry at the unfinished obelisk. I know nothing of stone work or if this technique would translate to granite, but it seems so much more plausible that it was done similar to this than some of the wacky videos claiming the Egyptians used some ancient lost technology or soften the stone.

Hello Wayne is it possible you can take on a challenge by carving out a diorite / basalt hard stone deity Indian statue with the modern cutting tool and see how close you can mimic the the precision, to ancient Indias stone carvers ? it would be a great challenge to be on a documentary showing all thought process and logistics from begining to end, on history / discovery channel. I am taking about 6 to 8 foot tall statue, if not, maybe you know somebody that would take on challenge. Check out- the black stone polished woman deity statues on the east indian temples, there amazing- the main challenge would be the diorite. I see stone carvers on youtube doing it on marble, in india and do a great job, but I want to see it done on harder stone.

i'd love to get the opinion of any stone carvers on a couple of ancient sites: 1. using _only_ copper chisels by hand, _how_ might ancient Egyptians have so accurately carved a nearly perfectly symmetrical face of Ramesses II? [link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l2msYZlvjJKladE ]. 2. how could a 7th/8th Century A.D. civilization have created something like the Kailasa temple of Ellora, India-a single stone megalithic structure carved from a single piece of lava or volcanic plateaus-using primitive hand tools? [link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWK2dmVrorqFnsU ] btw, i'm not trying to prove or disprove "ancient technologies" or anything. i'm just absolutely _baffled_ by the level of detail, accuracy, and scale of such structures and have yet to hear a _plausible_ explanation.

again, your examples though are not sufficient.....for example.. Take a minute for everyone and really help people understand the \masonry say at the Osirion, from at least 5k years ago......how is it you account for the precise granite work there 5k years ago, over 1k years before the iron age. How about the precise parabolic angles in granite that appear to be like huge sculpted moldings.....we make molding with routers or mill heads....it's really the only way, and that stuff is gigantic and flawless, in hard, hard rock. Like the guy says in one here :oh that ws fro steel." but dude.....there was not steel for another 1300 years....
