Cracking video a lot better than some I've seen. Nice and easy to understand and the advise is spot on. Tried it on a stone chip on my bonnet and it's wired a treat. Thanks for the help

Hi Mat what’s the best way to kill / remove the rust? Would you recommend a kill rust product? Thanks Matt

Great video. Did you ever do the Sanding and DA version of the stone chip removal?
@chrisformby30394 жыл бұрын
Suggestion for bonnets with a steep angle, partially prop open with a cardboard box to get the chips close to horizontal, then gravity will be your friend when dabbing paint into them.

You don’t have to wet sand it. You can you a razor blade to cut excess paint/clear coat. Then hit wit light compound, polish, and wax.

Hi Matt, a brilliant vid, thanks, I've been trying to pluck up courage to do a couple of chips on my wife's car, it's Polar white and shows every mark! She's a bit of a perfectionist! I'm feeling brave and will follow your advice, you mention a panel cleaner do you have a brand that you prefer? It's been Ceramic coated so I'm guessing after using cleaner I'll then need to reapply in that area? I have subscribed because I've looked at a few vids but must agree I prefer to stick to British advice other nations seem to work in different ways. Thanks again.

Any panel wipe from your local motor factors... Think what I have is upol or something.... Yes, you'd need to reapply in that area once done 👍

Hi, would you bother with primer? I’ve received my 3 stage stone chip kit, primer, paint and clear coat. Thanks. Good vid.
@TheDetailingSpace4 жыл бұрын
I guess it depends on how big the chip is and where. You could certainly add a touch of primer first and then colour on top if you wish.
@vladen144 жыл бұрын
would've been nice to see the result tho.
@TheDetailingSpace4 жыл бұрын
Sorry. Thought that would have been enough lol
@vladen144 жыл бұрын
@@TheDetailingSpace That's ok, I was just wondering if this method is "good enough" so that you really can't see the chip anymore or if it stays the way you showed in your last clip, where you can still quite easily see the chip.
@TheDetailingSpace4 жыл бұрын
It more depends on the size and location. I touched a few more on this car a couple of weeks ago, it was hard to find them again after. Maybe because I didn't build the paint up as much
@MrFcp883 жыл бұрын
Hi, I have a question. Should I wet sand after applying clear coat to level and blend the touch up area? I do have a DA polisher to buff away any wet sanding marks. Thanks.

How many layers of paint and clear coat do you apply?
@TheDetailingSpace4 жыл бұрын
Keep building thinly.... Apply colour, but don't let it get higher than surrounding paint. Then apply clear until level or just above the surrounding paint.

That's a decent finish given it was a day job. Good tutorial Mat. 👍 from me.

My bleep machine would be in overdrive.... I have so much footage too! I've kept almost all source footage! It's unreal how much I now have. Even worse is my personal footage from holidays etc. Usually the Lumix, 2 GoPros as times, drone and maybe the phone too.... GoPros and drone are always recording in 4k! Lumix is either 4k, or 1080 if I want some slow motion! So you can imagine the data I eat through!

@@TheDetailingSpace what did I say about showing off? 🤣 I'd love a 4K camera but I'd need more storage for the footage. My laptop is almost maxed out 😭
@TheDetailingSpace5 жыл бұрын
Haha, tbh 4k isn't everything. I mainly record 4k to crop in later.... Look at your analytics and I bet more than half View on a mobile. If they do, stick with HD. I went through a phase on my personal channel where I only uploaded 4k for a while.... Peoe kid themselves saying they are making their videos future proof. Reality is, the video will become dated regardless of resolution. And if it's that good and doesn't get dated, then resolution shouldn't matter (you'd still watch a classic comedy/film in a 4:3 ratio wouldn't you)
