Well he already said he doesn't really eat them she does so why would he work for her dinner but also he is technically the captain his job is to find the traps mark them find better places to set them etc. So he's doing his job just as much as she's doing hers lol

They can pick meat of the bone with them. What do they do if the claws are gone ? Go up an eat it with there mouth against the meat . Like we eat corn on the cobb. Everyone is ready to hurry up and get out there and when we are done, everyone just wants to get home. But the number of stone crab buoys is insane over here this time of year! From FWC website. You can take both, they do turn more scavenger vs predator, BUT... “Although the crab can still obtain minimal amounts of food with no claws, having one claw (if the other one is harvested) will enable the crab to obtain greater amounts of food in a shorter amount of time. Stone crabs (like other crustaceans) have the ability to grow back their claws, but this process requires a large amount of energy in the form of food. The quicker the crab can obtain the energy required to molt and grow its lost claw, the sooner this renewable delicacy will have another claw to replace the missing one” I guess you be your own judge.
