I'm surprised you didn't wet the rock first. It does help the cement or mortar adhere better. But a very good job! It should last another 100 💯 year's!

Have a house that has a similar issue, what the past owners did in some areas already, and that we plan on doing to the rest of the basement is to just build a cylinder brick wall within a few inches of the foundation wall that is falling in, then fill the blocks with concreate, then after the brick wall is 100% set, back fill the space in between the two walls with concreate (they used just dirt in the areas they already did.) house sat for ten years with no downspouts, so that's what caused the issue, and was a simple fix, but now we have to fix the damages.

You missing a big opportunity for ASMR cement videos. What that means is people would turn in just to hear the sound of the concrete crumbling. Eliminate the music and just do you. Check out Mike Haduck videos and ask yourself why do a brick mason have over 140k subscribers. Because he gives us the sounds of the cement. Just my two cents bro.

What is your business name? If you have one. I'd like to contact you about some work on my house. We just had a brick foundation wall collapse for the same reason this stone one did. It's just a section and we don't know what to do, because we can't afford any of the estimates we've been given so far.

I have a similar situation that I'd like to get your opinion on if you'd be willing. I took care of the water situation I got that diverted from the house, but now have the stone foundation to deal with. The hole goes straight through to the basement. The more I poke around & Shop-Vac inside the opening from the outside of the house, the more old loose mortar (which has turned a dirt) comes out, and the more I come across loose stones. .. Someone told me that most people just tuck point as a part of Maintenance and only go about a third of the way in the Gap. They said if I can scrape it out, but it's packed in like mud or even a sand that moves, that I can leave the stone there because it will still have compression strength. They said just fill the opening with bricks and mortar and leave the rest. Is this safe to do ? I took some videos and I'm happy to post them and share them with you if you'd like to see them. Also took some pictures.

If the part of the foundation you are talking about is structurally sound but the old mortar is falling out then yes, you can just clean out the gaps a third of the way and repoint

In what sense of the word were they “foundations”? Great work, but sheesh, the place wasn’t 300 years old. We criticise modern builders all the time for cutting corners, but these original builders wouldn’t know a corner if they bumped into it.

@@roshi98 I'm so confused on what mortar to use on my old stine foundation. the parge coat is hollow and will easily come off. behind it is the stone and old sandy (probably lime mortar). I used 2 buckets mason sand, 1/2 bucket s mortar and 1/2 bucket of portland on a small portion on the exterior below my porch. it looks real good but then I doubt myself. seems like some state you HAVE to use lime ( like nhl 3.5 ) and you shouldn't use modern cement if there was lime mortar at one time. others state lime mortar is no good and doesent hold up especially in cold environments. before I start the entire inside of the basement I need to feel comfortable that I'm using the correct mortar so I don't do anything that will damage it.

That's what all kids do. They wear slides no matter what. LOL. I've got teenagers who do the same exact thing. I'm guilty of it too. But you certainly should wear gym shoes just in case because you never know when an accident can happen. I dropped a heavy rock on my toe working on a similar project. And I certainly didn't expect that to happen. Guess what I did after that? I went and put gym shoes on. LOL
