Having seen and talked to Scott many times throughout the years, this is the point in time where he had the most clarity. He was at his peak and unfortunately, after that it was downhill. I still consider him to be one of the greatest vocalists and performers of all time. He is now a legend. Thanks for a great memory of him.

Agreed, there was a time that Scott was quite possibly the world's most thrilling frontman...he had the whole bit. He really did it well. Pearl Jam would not have had the honor to cater these guys' Christmas party....that's what makes seeing those godawful videos of that band he was in when he died so hard.

Scott’s voice is exquisite here. So quietly powerful. Gives me chills. Stripped down DeLeo on an acoustic, you can really hear everything in Scott’s voice. The tremolo, the inflection, the rasp, the sustain, the perfect pitch and incredible tone right in the pocket. You can tell he’s clean and very focused here. If only it had lasted and he’d stayed in this state of mind and lifestyle. Things may have turned out differently. 😢 This is a bare vocal, meaning there is nowhere to hide mistakes or an off pitch in this kind of instrumentation. Which DeLeo plays beautifully. And you must have the core and vocal strength to sustain notes at subdued volume. Not. Fckng. Easy. At all. Then to gradually increase the strength of volume like in the magnificent Atlanta (my favorite STP song all time, for deeply personal reasons related to it). Only to lower it once more. He had terrific vocal control. Also, Their musical chemistry is really apparent here. But gods was Scott gifted. Pretty incredible performance.

Mannn, all these years later, here I am mourning him yet again, for what is surely not the last time, either. When someone mentioned how he died alone in his tour bus, I was halfway through Atlanta and lost it, out here at 4am freezing in my car choking down a cigarette, halfway through getting over COVID, all crying and singing and smiling and dying a little more for him, somehow wishing I could wake him up and stop his ultimate demise like some sort of Quantum Leap outtake or some shit. But no, at least I do get to enjoy this all new and special all over again because of KZbin. What a catastrophic loss to the music world. It really doesn't get any better than this, and I feel bad for those that never get to hear the full catalog of all the beautiful things he created with this unbelievably talented band. Don't sleep people, you can't go wrong with their whole discography. Front to back; with Weiland on vocals it's all killer, no filler. Every member gave their all and they were a match made in heaven, so happy I'm still able to uncover hidden jewels like this one from time to time.
