I'm 63 years old and have always wanted to do this kind of work. I realize it's back breaking but the results are fantastic.

Worked himself into a corner, normally you work out towards the edge but whatever works! Looks great
@Wilburnator3 жыл бұрын
Starting at the outside and working in was the only right thing I saw him do in this videa. Whole pieces at the edges, cropped pieces at the house is what you want. The opposite looks awful.
@russellallen54823 жыл бұрын
@@Wilburnator of course you put your cuts in towards the walls and leave the nice big pieces at the edges but you do not work yourself into a corner
@gticarlos20033 жыл бұрын
@@russellallen5482 what he meant is that you want full pieces on the outside and smaller pieces/ cut pieces next to the wall. Is a much better look than starting from the inside out and then having to cut pieces smaller on the edges
@russellallen54823 жыл бұрын
@@gticarlos2003 yes I agree but you do not work yourself into a corner.

Please watch carefully 1:11+, his exit path is clearly laid out and is not stuck in a corner. Having said that, your advice should never be taken lightly😊

am I wrong or aren't you supposed to install stone veneer 6 to 8 inches above soil so when moisture penatrates in cold temperatures the stones does not pop out?
@russellallen54823 жыл бұрын
2” above concrete and 4” above soil I think these rules are dumb and I would never do that at my house , I am a mason of over 27 years and I have never ever done a repair that was at the bottom of a wall. Putting stone above grade defeats the purpose of the look, the stone is supposed to look like a foundation or like the house was built on a stone structure but this “new” stone ways is terrible looking and it looks like it is floating in air.
