As a contrarian practitioner, whenever I compared StoneCo and Pags with MA, I almost come to a point to start doubting about whether value investing still works anymore or something wrong with my system. With double digital growth and comparable future prospect, MA share price has been heading north forever despite 40 PE and company liquidate. On the contrast, 8PE StoneCo with large amount of buyback, SP is free falling!

The Chinese education groups you mentioned a while back reported earnings this week. I follow China Education group only, which is larger and seemingly better quality. In summary, 17pct growth, 34pct net margin, substantial capex, some impairments and the shares keep sinking to 4x earnings... A 40pct dividend payout on FY24 earnings represents a 9.5pct yield... crazy stuff.

Great video as always. Can you revisit MPW as it has resolved most of the tenant issues. With dividend at a 7% yield, short ratio of 45% , free cash flow that is to improve in the next 2 years and debt under control it is promising 2,3,4 X in the next 2 years + a huge possibility of a short squeeze. Large individuals are piling up.

The business is fine, grows its earnings and pays its nearly 7% dividend. At a 500m market cap, it may be taken over at some point. The lower it trades, the better.

There's not a huge difference, but the edge goes to manually investing dividends because you can put the money to work selectively - ie choose to reinvest if the stock is still a good value when it pays the dividend or spend the money elsewhere if the stock has run up in price. But automatically reinvesting is like dollar cost averaging into a stock - sometimes it will be cheap, sometimes not, but will average out over time.

In 1994 stock market had been going up like never before and looked ridiculously expensive and in a bubble. Any sensible person would have expected a crash and sold. In reality, the rally just got stronger and stronger and continued for 5 more years before the "crash" that never came back to 1994 prices. Usually when you realize stocks are in a bubble, you should BUY not sell.

STNE isn't cheap comapred to the brazilian market. You can just buy the EWZ brazilian ETF and chill with a PE of 9 and lower risk. Inflation is going down there and currency poised to rise. Trading balance good as well.

Payment methods in Brazil and wire transfers are MUCH better than in the US. For the most part, safe and instantaneous, especially after the creation of PIX by the government. Works 24/7, it is instantaneous and free of tariffs for individuals. Credit Cards and other methods come into play for, well, credit. However, the average rates for credit cards in Brazil are 438% per annum.... Only an insane (or desperate) person would ever use that credit modality.
