Very nice project, I like the large board that keeps the blade covered.

I made my jig to ride on the fence so I can set the distance and get nice repeatability. You can also tape over the area to be cut and then install the spline and then peel off the tape, keeping the box clean. I make up the spline stock in batches once I get the thickness dialed in. Sometimes I tamp them down a bit with a hammer on a flat surface if they are a bit tight. The glue swells them back up.

Thanks for the video. What I normally do is to paint the danger zone a bright colour and make the jig wider so i can clamp the project to it so i only need to be concerned about pushing it

That is a good idea. Cheers. Peter

Peter Excellent jig. And … what is your giant clamp? AdS
@NewBritWorkshop10 ай бұрын
It is a Bessey deep throated clamp - quite expensive but you only need one. Cheers. Peter

As much as I like my Kapex, I wouldn't consider to use it to cut splines that size. Since I have to saw them for size when they are settled anyway I could easily saw those by hand to rough size, or even break them.

It is easy to do it - the trick is to let the saw blade come to rest before lifting it. Peter

Very Interesting Peter. Before 35 yrs ago; I bought a jig like yours. Wow, I could have not wasted the money; IF I had built one just like yours. Oh well. In any case....we ❤ what you do kind Sir, always. Thank you. Ooops...I meant "Cherio". Oh well! 🥲
