As much as I understand both Appropriation, and Apperciation. There's a big difference between the two that I think people are throwing around loosely. This song is simply appreciation in my eyes. Because they are not claiming they are the culture, making fun of it, or being disrespectful. We have alot of kpop groups that are interested in other countries and with music, music is simply universal its not owned by anyone. If they danced in traditional Italian clothing or sang a song about Italy (to which I am Italian-American) I would honestly love it, because it shows their interest. Here they danced with a dancer of that culture and showed their appreciation. Please remember the difference between the 2 when just loosely using the term. It's like when Yooa came out with that one song, a lot of Native and Indigenous people liked it and had no problem with it. People all have different feelings towards things. But I think sharing the music within cultures is beautiful when done well like this, with incorporating someone from the culture themselves and appreciating it. Again please remeber the difference.

yeah the majority of people who are mad at rica rica aren’t even from the country that this is appreciating which is just unfair. Just like in your case i guarantee people would be happy they are creating music with influences from there culture. People need to stop trying to baby each other when there is no harm being done, so much unnecessary backlash when this is being done with so much appreciation and kindness. Now if they were out here actively making fun of it it’d be a different story, but they fused kpop and african/ native american cultures of both music and dance into one song and took it seriously. The song isn’t that bad but not my personal fav from the group but i’m still glad they did this. People need to chill out

Before watching this (I only had heard Allegro Cantabile and do like Limbo! (title), and hadn't listened or watched this). This is such a clear cut, textbook example. I mean, they took a culture and more or less made a meme out of it. I'm not the first one to say that their company wants to make Nature into a meme group like Momoland, but didn't. I'm not African, and I find this tasteless, because there is NO actual cultural implementation, it's merely window dressing. I mean, the international fans literally begged the company and group not to do this, and the group (not their fault, but the company heads NEVER take the blame, jerkwads) suffered. Hel, the Korean fanbase called them "cockroaches". (Not firsthand, from comments on an Asian Junkie article). I'd usually believe ignorance before appropriation, but this is such a clear cut case. When a group builds it into the concept from the start and does everything in their power to correctly incorporate the culture, like say Dreamcatcher (although they've moved away from it, now it just being them (and now their company's name)). If only these companies had people that could properly research these topics academically before implementing cultural elements that they know nothing about. That isn't going to happen, given they don't even vet English text on outfits (see TWIICE Chaeyoung accidentally wearing a Qan0n shirt(

Okay let me explain as an ivorian. Zaouli is a traditional dance of one ethnicities in Côte d'Ivoire. I won't talk about CA. But i can tell you that it's akward. Every traditional dance have it meaning and spiritual aspect, and should not be used like that. If they used a dance of "Arafat Dj" or "Serge Beynaud" it would be great but this is sacred. So the random people who don't know our feeling please understand that we have the right to speak. It's not sending hate on the artist, not at all, but we have to educate a bit. Sorry for my bad english and hope that you'll understand. Update : the news is slowly spreading in côte d'ivoire and opinions are divided

I’m not sure if this comment is wrong still but as an African I am getting educated on this and am thinking and over viewing this as a minor I wasn’t exactly sure what culture appreciation was and thought this was it since I was told it’s getting the right to wear/do something that the same culture gave to you (not sure if I explained right) but I am sorry if I offended anybody I was basically defending them because I thought they were showing it WAS culture appropriation but they weren’t some, of the reply’s are Some people saying it was ok and there’s a lot basically educating me I’m happy that I am now understanding everything and that wasn’t an actual dancer
