AGAIN!!! A+!!! Challenging the puppy, referencing the tone of voice and why and when we should change it for the different circumstances that a Trainer encounters for each dog and how challenging the puppies/adult dogs leads to better/best behaved dogs throughout their lives... POSITIVELY EXCELLENT!!! I'm saying/commenting this because the process of training on You Tube is often not described like this which is the real way trainers train or should train. Thanks again for these great posts! Wolfy :)

My videos aren't really a complete guide to puppy training, rather they are just glimpses into what I do at work. But if you watch my videos, plus five or six other guys, you should be able to do a very good job with your own pup. When you are watching, make notes and then over the course of time, you will have a notebook full of advice from a bunch of different people, you can combine that advice with your own personal experience and then you end up with some real knowledge and your own "style"...

Stonnie Dennis who are the 'five or six other guys' whose videos you are recommending here?
@StonnieDennis11 жыл бұрын
Sure, if you want, but you don't have to at this stage. One word of advice, if you choose to start using your verbal cue, do so gently and consistently. Be sure not to fall into the trap of repeating your cues, as it creates confusion farther along in the process.

YOU ARE AWSOME !!! Thank you so much for the passion and commitment you put into these animals ! I've got a 5 yr old RR (Rhodesian Ridgeback - male), and I really want to get it a 'friend' (male also)...am thinking of a Malinois, but they seem even more active/energetic than RRs, and I no longer have the lifestyle that allows me to give it as much time as I used to. Also, I live in a pretty big apartment (just me and my dog), and have loads of space to go on walks with him, which sadly are not as common. I'd love to have your opinion on getting a Malinois (if not, would go for another RR), even if I probably know what your answer is going to be :) Thanks again for doing what you do the way you do !

Hey stonnie! quick question, Im watching your videos and this might sound like a stupid one but what are you using for targeting ? are you using a specific type of treat, or are you just using their regular food? Sorry for the dumb question, I am still new to all of this!

Mark Hanna Just their kibble for the most part. I throw in a high value treat, now and then, to mark exceptional effort or a breakthrough of some type...

@SnapDragonfly599 жыл бұрын
Hi Stonnie: I hope you can help me. I recently adopted a 7 week old mal from a shelter and really didn't realize what I was getting into;-) I have raised several GSDs and other breeds but this little guy is a holy terror! He's sweet as can be but so full of energy! I have never crate trained a dog but feel that I don't have any other choice right now as I do work 8 hours a day and he has proven that he can not be left in my house. I was wondering what advise you could give me and also if you could tell me where to purchase the types of play equipment that you have in your yard. I have 5 acres of open land and we spend a lot of time outside playing catch etc but I don't want him to be bored.
@StonnieDennis9 жыл бұрын
Well, my default answer is always, more exercise! But even with a lot of exercise, you are probably going to have to crate train him or buy him a nice, secure, outdoor run, if you want to keep your house intact...

@ stonnie dennis- in your professional opinion, do mals make good pets (non working companions) for a family with kids or would say that they are strictly working dogs. fyi when I say 'pet' im talking about basic obedience training and casual outings not anything competitive.
