Bucyrus Erie E2 dragline

Moving the Bucyrus after a lot of years standing stil.
the dragline standing in Harderwijk (The Netherlands)
The dragline was built is 1923
The engine is an Atlas Imperial 4 cil
movie made in 1994

Excellent video! Just watching it get started was interesting. It sounded like a small single cyl. starter motor at first,then I thought that I heard something like an air starter working. I'm thinking that even when it was new, that it took a couple of men to keep it working. Well done! Rich

Great Video!! Thanks so much for uploading things like this, it brings back so many memories for me, i was just a kid when we had a simular crane to this one, it wasnt as old as this one but still an old tool, i think ours was a 37b, i used to love firing up the donkey engine first thing in the morning, then a little squirt of easy start and open the air tap and away the big engine used to fire. Wow those were the days!!!! very much missed...

Thanks for youre reaction. the 1 cil engine is the air compressor. it was normaly in the early days that 2 people working on a dragline the opperator and an oiler.

deze film is gemaakt in Ede waar toen de machinistenschool was. Blijkbaar bezit jij de video die er toen van is gemaakt. De dragline moest verplaatst worden naar een plaats aan de voorzijde van het museum. De man in het witte overhemd is mijn opa die heel lang leraar is geweest op deze school. Ik ben de film kwijt en zou hem graag in zijn geheel hebben. Groet Frank Dankbaar

When the dragline was built it's directly transported to Holland. The Bucyrus was bought to dig the Juliana channel in Holland (named after the former Dutch queen)
