As-salaam-alaikum. Very profound insights as usual coming from our esteemed Ustadh. A couple of things I want to address though. First I don't believe I heard the ayats that are being referred to which would be helpful. However that is now "forcing" me to read the whole surah to find the ayats which is not a bad thing. 😊. The second thing is I am confused abt the reference in the ayat to good people in Jannah, not simply believers. Does this mean that people who are good hearted people who are moral and make a contribution to humanity and are God conscious people do not have to be professed Muslims? Or does it mean that Muslims who call themselves Muslim believers will not be rewarded with Jannah unless they have also made a contribution that benefits humanity? Or both? Please clarify. And give any other ayats or tafsir that will help to understand.

wa alaikum salaam, from my understanding, like nak said, may allah bless him, there are two parts. First part is about US. That we made a pledge to Allah that we will obey him. 1. Pray 5 times a day, 2. give zakat, 3. fast in the month of ramadhan, and if possible perform Hajj and Umrah. These are individual obligations. So basically that is 'obeying Allah'. If you obey Allah and ask for his forgiveness, that is the path to earn paradise/jannah. But for some people there is within them the feel and need and want to help others in multiple ways with extra charity, conveying knowledge, teaching to build or do something etc. A great example is ustad Nouman Ali Khan himself, spreading the knowledge of the Quran to millions around the globe positively impacting them. So from my understanding it is within ourselfs, the ruh, deep inside, within some people, to do goodness to others and impact others lives in this world for good. This like he said is not a requirement to enter Jannah like prayer, fasting and zakath, but it increases our chances of entering jannah by making our sclaes heavier with good deeds on the day of Qiyamah, possibly strong chances of entering jannath ul firdaus in shah allah, chance of entering a higher level of jannah becuase the obligations itself could be challenging to do consistently (prayer, zakath, fasting and feeding yourself and family and the basic needs). On top of that if you voluntarily do other things (goodness) like helping people and changing the world, which is not a mandatory requirement to enter jannah but increases our chances and a strong case to enter jannah and possibly a higher level of jannah. I hope you got it, may Allah bless us and our families and bring goodness and strength to our lives and help us enter Jannath, possibly jannath ul firadous. :) Ameen
