I found a video from the d5 conference i think it was, which was very interesting to me. I saw a lot of videos bitching about how mac is better than pc or the other way around. This video (orginally about 2 hours long), showed me something different. So, i've selected the most interesting parts to show you and hopefully make the world, the tech world at least, a bit more restful.

Steve Jobs was probably one of the best minds to ever come into the spotlight in the last century or two, he wasn't super intelligent with computers but he was a natural salesman and had a charisma and ability to perform in front of an audience. Things like switching iPhones during the very first demo without anyone noticing to demonstrate the apps. He was just an all around marketing genius and knew how to get a product sold.

blognewb One has a button to maximise the window, if it needs to be maximised. Yes, one can only delete the entire Trash and not part of it, but since it is already in the Trash, it shall either be restored or be fully deleted. The Trash is not a repository for undecided files. One can has middle click with a mouse with three buttons or one uses BetterTouchTool to enable a gesture for middle click. As to you being baffled, it probably has to do with your own computational needs and you deducing others will have the same, when those needs are completely different from your own. I have lived with un-maximised windows for over a decade now and it is fine. I have lived with that Trash behaviour for over a decade, it is fine. As to the middle click, hmm, I have lived with alternatives for almost a decade and it wasn't that hard.

Skullbasher Gaming Yeah, I agree. It really is wonderful, how this movie got so many things right the second time around. The director really knows the story better than the one from the first part. But then again, the lead actress was kinda bland compared to the dark actor. Anyway, it was a joy to watch it on my 5" display, though I disliked the black bars on the top and bottom. Why can films not just adhere to one size. Stupid.

I left this comment a while ago. He replied to me so I replied back. I'm watching a movie at the moment. Also I'm not trolling which I've already said. I really am just trying to help people. I believe Linux Ubuntu 14.04 is the best OS hands down. Although gamers are forced to use windows to be able to play there games. I'm not saying that Apple has a bad product. I'm just saying that as a company apple is not a good company. There greedy. Every device Apple comes out with has a new charger. Which in turn makes you have to re-buy allot of your accessories. Also another reason Apple is vary greedy. They skimp on parts and charge way more than there devices are worth. Also Apple is a locked down OS/Operating System. If you just want a phone and don't care about apple, get an android device. If you love apple than get an iPhone. I just want to let people know theres better options than apple that are much better.

So interesting watching their communication style. Steve is clearly a great oral communicator, while I found it harder to understand Gates. Jobs was also very aware of non-verbal cues and the underwritten human aspect of the whole thing. Gates is definitely a numbers guy; a builder, coder, like Wozniak, with a huge talent for business. Jobs is a visionary, the entrepreneur, fluid in his thinking, and intuitive in actions. He sees through all the extraneous information and cuts into the core of the matter.

Oh, come on. FOR THE CONSUMER, it was Apple versus PC. Consumers were obviously going to purchase one or the other. Even though Apple (Apple II, IIe, Mac Plus, etc) was my earlier choice, Apple eventually lost that game - not because of anything Microsoft did, but because of Apple's (Steve Job's) seemingly endless mistakes (not supporting developers, not expanding it's software base, ousting Woz & others, charging absurd prices, and so on).

I use MS Windows because I need it for work (C# / .NET developer), but I also understand that many people choose Macintosh because they use professional music and video editing software that perform better on MacOS, as well as people that use Linux OSes because they work with web servers and similar things.

This video speaks the truth. If Steve and Bill were truly against each other, then let me ask you this. Why did things like Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and others.... a Microsoft product, work with Macs? On the other hand, why did Apple products, such as iTunes, iPhones, iPads, what have you, work on computers with Windows? Speaking for myself, I am a Mac user. Why? It is just my preference, I grew up with them, I have found them to be easier to use and I just like the functionality of them better. Are they more expensive? Absolutely. That being said.... I do not change or update hardware as often as some other Mac users do. I am running on an iMac from 2009, and it still works just as it should. I am still on OS X 10.9.5. Why? Because it works just fine, and I don't see a point in updating something until it ABSOLUTELY needs it. If I am ever in a computer room/lab, and the only option was to use a computer with Windows, I will GLADLY use one of them.

Even more significantly. back in 1983 Steve and Bill did work together to make the Mac become successful. There was a TV show where Steve said that in order for Mac to be successful he would need three software CEOs, Bill is one of them and he say that in front of Bill himself.

Steve Jobs I’m sure would have wanted feedback from customers such as longer battery life. As a computer history buff, PhD in Comp Eng, etc., I see what you are trying to say and do here. The merits of your argument are completely valid and are in fact the only way to truthfully depict the history of personal computing with respect to the two companies. But anyone with any sensibility will be turned off to your (valid and singularly correct) argument firstly because the video's title basically orders the viewer to do something that, until hearing an argument, they may not agree with. So those with a differing (and again, incorrect) view of personal computing history start the consideration of your arguments points with a bias against them. This may or may not be true but it's never something that's helpful in convincing others to change their views on anything. Well they had to get some market share from the dominant Platform and raise awareness. Yet, They were actually incredibly respectful. The pc guy was likeable, the ads were widely liked and thought funny, and this was the intention. And it was a successful campaign that continued for some time. A normal add campaign would not have succeeded because they had to show why the Mac was better. They attacked the deficiencies of the PC, and made the MAC seem cool, but it was nothing like what Samsung does which insults, mocks, and derides apple users, apple stores etc. THAT would be going for the “jugular”. Compare that too with the surface pro adds which attack the deficiencies of iPad, but do not insult the users. Someone high up must have authorised that too.

His company was faltering badly in 1997 b/c of some poor product decisions and needed money. Gates and Microsoft offered $150M which the company accepted. L. MorningStar what? Apple themselves did it. Remember the ”PC guy” ads that Apple used to run in the 00s? Where they compared ”macs to PCs” Even though Apple started out calling their machines PCs in the 70s/80s - in the 90s the language changed and people started to distinguish the terms, Macs started to become a separate term and PC most often referred to non-mac operating systems.

I really wish Steve Jobs was still around, that was when Apple was at its best, but ever since his passing I personally feel like the company is being greedy in many ways. It was so hard for me to just convert to PC, because I used Macs so much and I loved them.
