@@tsl7881 That's very true. I used to like going into Fry's in California and Las Vegas. They used to have a LOT of electronics stuff. I think they are just an Arizona grocery store now. So sad. 😞
@kyleolson89775 ай бұрын
What's the story? Why are these here? This is it: Every Official RadioShack Store corporate store closed, no matter how well they were doing. So why are there RadioShack stores? The remaining stores are RadioShack stores are not "RadioShack Stores". If you look very close, you can see they say RadioShack "Dealer". It's a sort of Franchise. If you had an Electronics store somewhere Tandy/RadioShack wouldn't take the risk, you could turn your electronics store into a RadioShack Dealer. Usually rural locations. When RadioShack closed all the corporate stores they wouldn't close all the independent stores, because they weren't in charge of them. Tandy no longer had the products to support these stores like they did before, but they didn't completely abandon them. The logos and racks are not getting any younger. As an example, if you search for the RadioShack in Sequim, WA you will find a Google maps listing for "Sequim Electronics" on a store that says "RadioShack" and "Dealer" in tinier letters, because it is "Sequim Electronics" with a RadioShack theme. They're largely on their own to keep electronics in the store.

These little air blowers are awesome! I just suggested a review on them last Sunday to a competing KZbin site, which you probably watch. I got one of these about 8 months ago, and I use it all the time. It's a "Zeropone" model off Amazon, which also comes with accessories, and will vaccuum too. So you can take it to detail out the car or clean off smaller parts on projects you have on a desk, instead of a shop bench. Mine is weighty and I've never had power issues with it. Like you said, you don't use it for extended periods, and if you used canned air, it'll get freezing cold and crap out anyway. These battery dusters are a very underrated tool that I think will gain a lot of popularity quickly. And the prices should come down and features go up usually if that happens. They need some marketing love, is all. THey're also great for cleaning out dirty filters and fans/fanblades. SO much easier than cans or compressors. These things will go in a back pocket. Mine's all metal and engineered surprisingly precisely and would take a good beating, if necessary. It doesn't look like Zeropone makes them anymore, but the prices on these are very reasonable, when you see how much you'll use one. /End advertisement :-).

If you're already in the Dewalt eco-system, the 2.5 gallon 20v with a cheap $20 'blower kit' is hard to beat for the money. Around $200 or less on sale or with a coupon. It wasn’t cheap, but has proven to be very useful for blowing out electronic equipment and tons of other things. I almost never used the canned air because it’s so $$$ - with the blower, it’s simply recharging a battery, so I use it all the time. I know I saw plenty of off-brand ones that used the Makita batteries, but have learned to buy once, cry once when it comes to, well, most things, but tools especially. There are likely others for the other battery platforms as well, but as I have mostly Makita stuff that’s what I looked for.

Nice product and review! I just came home with a four pack of compressed air that I got at BJs for $15.99. I don't go through them that often, but anybody who works as a computer tech or mechanic would probably save money with that compact rechargeable duster. The canned air has two disadvantages that the rechargeable duster does not. First, they add a bitter chemical to the canned product to discourage people from huffing the contents. This chemical does transfer to surfaces and then to your fingers. Second, the canned air output velocity decreases as the can gets cold. (Something adiabatic... something thermodynamics... something physics... something...) You have to let the can warm back up to get the maximum air velocity from it.

I have never bought compressed air in cans lol. I always vacuum first with a purpose made reduction hose, and then use my Filter Queen and the reduction hose to blow dust/dirt out. Now I have a compressor for my shop, but I still use my Filter Queen and a reduction hose meant for electronics, with its' attachments, to vacuum and blow out stuff like keyboards, PC's, etc.. If you need pressurized air portability, then the cans or the Duster, or an air pig makes sense. If in a shop that has to regularly use compressed air to clean/dust from things like electronics, that Electric duster would be great. Cheaper than a compressor. You can also make a small, higher air blast pressure, air pig; or even turn a 20gal propane tank into an air pig, if you have the space. Now you are attached to a hose, but you do have a very good air blaster, that can be recharged quickly at any service station or with your own compressor. You can buy a fitting that goes into the propane tank and has a 1/4" NPT out, that you thread a quick connect female fitting to. You make a male to male quick connect assembly, to temporally connect your compressor to recharge the tank. I am awaiting this part now, as my air pig developed a pin hole....and did not explode :-) Once I get the fittings, I can use any old or new 20 to 30 pound tank, for an air pig....after purging lol. This will also make a stronger tank than typical factory made air pigs. Some folk will modify their tanks welding on legs, etc.. I recommend finding other ways to modify if you must, other than welding, as this may make areas brittle, compromising the integrity of the tank. Hope this is useful.
@markluxton34025 ай бұрын
You can pull apart an old propane tank BBQ regulator to get the fitting you need, to make an air pig quickly out of a propane tank, but for full flow to make an air blaster, you will either punch out or drill out the center. The fitting I ordered is called "Pol Adapter Full Flow ". It already has a large hole through it. There are two types of full flow pol adapters, one with the soft tip O-ring and one without. FYI

Those little air dusters are nice for some applications but they really really lack the power of compressed air that is required to dislodge stubborn stuffs!! I do have one air duster that lasts way more than 5 minutes but sometimes, you need compressed air, really. Not for crumbles on a keyboard though...

I use that exact hobo freight compressor. Very quiet. Easy to run in the house and not upset the better half!

Interesting gadget. Can't say I've every purchased canned air. Years ago I repurposed an empty Freon tank for portable air.

I use a a Craftsman portable shop vacuum. If I need to blow, i just reverse the hose.

💦Moisture is the biggest issue with blowers, especially for electronics and delicate materials like artwork. Canned air has the propellant; Compressors have condensation (even with a filter). Also being able to control the force of air is crucial.

What about a small keyboard vacuum? I hate blowing dust around my office AKA my ham radio shack.

Hair dryer on low/cool? I use em to clean cassette tape machine and vhs machine contacts, the diamond EYE on CD player and dvd player, grand piano keyboard. I have for 25 yrs. Portability not so good. Battery operation would be great.

They have small knock off blowers for milwaukee and dewalt batteries. Similar to the one you showed.

I got a cheaper version of this fan a couple of years ago, and it's paid for itself many times over!

Never bought a canned air in my 60 years. I have used all kinds of portable air and currently use an Xpower (plug in) and it's a lot stronger than that cordless one. In my youth I would convert (welding) old freon tanks (5lb ones) to an air tank I could fill from a compressor and use. Then I started using 20lb CO2 tanks (with CO2 in them) for portable air and even ran air tools off them.

Never bought a can of air, just used a soft brush to clean my keyboard. Been using the same brush for many years. Turn it sideways so the debris falls off instead of behind the keys. Probably paid a whole dollar years ago for the brush.

You can buy the exact same compressors direct from Temu for $15 - $25. For me, I’ll wait an extra 3 days to save $50.

RadioShack use to be the place to go to for electronic parts and components. One thing I despise the most is the restocking fees. Same with frys electronic. I shop for all my computer parts there. It sucks that they went out of business.

For 60 bucks, I think it pays for itself. One question does it have a pin point nozzle mimicking the red tube for tight pin point spaces? Not a show stopper just wondering. Plus I really don’t like carrying all those cans around so it saves space
