Both my bikes (1978 Triumph Bonneville 750 and 1980 Suzuki GS550) have simple, cable operated slide carbs, air cooled engines, and the only electronics are in the ignition and charging systems. Uncomplicated and controlled by me, that's how I like them.

Abs and heated grip that's pretty much all I want/need. Sure on very long hwy miles (600+ miles day) a cruise control could be nice but not a necessity.

Yep. But even my bikes that don’t have cruise control have a simple throttle lock device for the longer stretches or a little wrist relief.

People ride for all different reasons, you'll still have your computerless motorcycles being made for many years to come. If there's a market for them, they'll make it.

I hope so. And I hope they’re not all small displacement bikes.

Yep. Right there with you on this issue. One thing though, (and this is meant to be funny) if you think an RX350 is huge, your assimilation has begun.

Yes. If you mean the electronics. I’ve already heard horror stories of Gold Wings lurching out into traffic with DCT. If I’m controlling it, I know what it’s going to do.

One or two comments about your rant. If you are fightiong the cars steering on cruise perhaps you are trying tpo drive it like a bike, wandering over the lane, also if the braking kicks in before overtaking then start your manouver earlier instead of tailgating the slower car. I have been riding bikes for over 50 years now from the simplest non electronoc systems up to fully modern electronics and don't find any loss of control over the bike. Instead I find I can concentrate on enjoying the ride instead of constantly thinking will I make it round this cormer or if I brake hard I am going down. I have a semi automatic gearbox, clutch is auto while gears are manual with downchanging also automatic. No stress on my left hand from constant changes in the twisties with only a paddle gearchange to use. i have linked brakes with ABS, only one pedal for both front and back so no stress on my right hand in twisties. Does it take away from riding? defibitely not as I can concentrate on the road and the ride. I ride a Can Am trike now after 48 years of 2 wheels and have some extras a 2 wheeler doesn't. It has a stability system to stop you from going too far in corners and flipping it. Does this reduce the skill needed to ride it? One of the first things I did when I got it was try to take it to the limit on tight corners to find where it cuts in and how it handles. Now can right fast in corners if I want as I know what it can do. What a lot of these electronics do is give me more confidence in poor conditions, try going down cobbles hairpins on an Alpine pass in a thunderstorm with water running across the road in corners. Basically all of these have not disconnected me from my bike but allowed me to enjoy the riding more

I can’t argue with that. And I do think I could acclimatize to almost anything. There are undoubtedly many many people who benefit from electronic aids. And the three-wheelers them. I owned a Can Am Ryker. It was fun. But I have to stick with my opinion. I love connecting to a bike through the throttle, the clutch, the back brake and, very importantly the front brake. For me, that is riding. But like I said, cruise control yes! Thanks for sharing your perspective.

I completely agree. The whole idea of riding is that YOU are the one controlling the beast, otherwise we are just bus riders. And it boggles my mind that people; even in this comment section, love all this stuff. Even to a point that they have to hurl insults, as if tech is like a religion to them. It's very bizarre.

I have both dct and Manuel transmission bikes I like them both for different reasons. If your skills are good the transmission type should not make a difference. There was a time when all cars were manual but I bet you have at least one automatic car. There was a time when we rode A horse but that does not.mean there is no place for a motor. You sound a bit out of touch with normal tech progress.

Yeah. A bit maybe. We have two automatic transmission cars. By choice. My wife’s car’s self-steering creeps me out but I’m sure I could get used to it. But cars for me are transportation. Motorcycles are a sport. Totally different.
