My added tip that’s been majorly impactful: have a system for capturing ideas! One of the biggest lies we tell ourselves is “oh I’ll remember that”…Ideas come & go but more easily go if we don’t capture them somehow. I have a working list of ideas written in a note on my phone. I have a file in my phone’s photo albums of a collection of screenshots of POD inspo. I also have a Pinterest board and Instagram collection of saved POD ideas & inspo. I capture as soon as I see something that gives me POD inspiration or write it down as soon as I think of an idea. This makes it all the easier to sit down and create a design because I have a ton of options to work with and don’t have to start from scratch trying to force an idea to come to me.
@shimmymorris12 жыл бұрын
YES!! i used to have a notebook for ideas, but now I just use my phone too. It's so important to write this stuff down because most of the time it goes out your brain and you never think of it again.

This was a really good reminder. 1) yepp, made this but fixing that. I don't have anyone to give me proper critique 2) I'm more or less doing this. So guilty 3) on and off yes, a lot of the procrastination is more a lack of motivation and self confidence. 4) nope. Not doing this one. Don't think anyone will take my design. most of it is either simple text or photos. 5) kind of gave up. I made over 100 designs and saw no real interest so just kind of left it there. But today, after about a year I had my first sale! 2 pins. So Now I'm hungry again and ready to improve and become better. 6)not good at this but will learn. But so far only had photos and simple text. 7) no, I don't over charge I hoped over and did the math and I'm slightly under the average 8)not using much colors... yet. Didn't even know that canva had that feature! thank you for the tip! 9) don't think I'm guilty of this, I go more for stuff that everyone use like mugs, clothes, and so on. 10) not guilty of this (I hope) I am looking and googling and so on trying to make sure I am not copying. 11) not limiting myself to t-shirts :) so not doing that misstake. Yeey mee!! :D 12) again a misstake I don't make BUT I am also not charging enough to make any good money 13) I think I am good at this. I have been selling second hand stuff for many years and have a 5 star so hope I am good at this. Guess I will see. 14) I did that at first but quickly woke up and understood the real deal. 15) still learning this. Working on it. I have ideas but still learning how to put it together fun. 16) I try to work with descriptions and tags. not perfect but getting better :) 17) hard to get the reviews when not getting the sales 18) depends on the feedback. But I am pretty good at making discissions based on what customers said in the past. And finding solutions to fix issues so the critique wont happen again. 19) I am sooooo guilty of this!! 20) also a big mistake for me. .... How did I do? ? ? But yes. Basically for me it is about me learning how to edit photos and text to look good.

Hi Shimmy, last week i set up an etsy shop with printful integration, selling only t-shirts at the moment. I make all the designs myself e.g. draw them and have set the price to what i think is fair..but is probably a bit too high? lol It's £20 per shirt which i set within the printful dashboard but that goes up to £24 on etsy. Too high?
@shimmymorris12 жыл бұрын
That's quite pricey for a shirt, have a look at the niche and see what they're going for. It might be ok but it'll definitely be on the steeper end
@justanotherchannel88362 жыл бұрын
@@shimmymorris1 I agree so I will lower the price. As long as the price covers delivery and etsy fees I'm content for now. Another thing I wanted to ask. I am based in the UK and my shop doesn't display as a local seller when I "view it in etsy" or on another browser not logged in. Why is this? Because printful now has a UK fulfilment centre so I thought that my shop would automatically show up as local seller.

I think the biggest print on demand mistake (for true aspiring clothing brand owners) is not looking for other clothing suppliers (finding the blanks sold on printful/printify etc such as Bella+Canvas / Gildan / StanleyStella) and also looking for your local print and embroidery shops … Print on demand is by far the best startup for seeing your designs in person and such.. but you definitely want to start building out a local supply chain, partnering up with local printers and embroiderers and getting your hands on those blanks for wayyyy cheaper! Good luck all, never give up and always look to lower your clothing brand costs long term whilst also trying finding better quality for a luxury brand feel!
@shimmymorris12 жыл бұрын
that is definitely a good direction to head in, but a lot more complicated

Getting proper feedback is a challenge when you don't have worthy family or "friends" who are well rounded in what looks fresh. People on social media need grabbed by the ears to comment on what they like most from being desensitized so hard. Only the right few comment something.
