I can't even tell you how many videos I watched trying to figure out the technique of this exercise & hoping to get clear explanation of the position on the bench, NOBODY was drawing attention to the position of your upper body (I just needed that clarification: how far should I go with my upper body on the bench). FINALLY I found this amazing video with the real professional! Thank you so much!🏆

Same, this has given me some hope. I'm going to try it again tomorrow and will be really strict. I'm pretty sure my back and shoulders were attempting to do half the work, which explains my back and hip aches

This was EXACTLY what I needed, thank you! I had been feeling it in my back and knew something was off. Getting my shins more perpendicular and focusing straight ahead made such a difference. This was the first time I felt the burn where I was supposed to feel it.

I haven't worked out in years, but I remember doing these and always feeling it my back and being like "yeah, this isn't right." And asking around what I'm doing wrong and NO ONE knew what to do to fix it. I've just stumbled on your channel, and I'm thinking maybe about getting back to lifting. I miss feeling like I KNOW what my body is capable of.

Hip thrusts are not exactly the safest movement for the spine, and it is an over rated movement. You might want to try the multi hip machine.

Thank you for demonstrating hip thrusts without weight! I could actually see what you were doing because the plates weren't in the way! Also, I like that you emphasized keeping your upper body still. Great demo!!

I LOVE how detailed you were in this description. I haven't seen anyone else cover that chest isolation part (or even the shin 90 degree part) even though, now that you say it, I realize that yes, they were all doing the chest isolation in their instruction videos but they didn't point it out and I didn't pick up on it. Thanks so much!

I know this video is two years old but it's equally as relevant two years later. I know it will start me with great technique and limit/ eliminate erector discomfort which seems to be my personal Achilles heel in life. Thank you and after watching about 20 videos by 20 different youtubers on this matter, you explained the entire movement the fastest and more thorough out of everyone i have watched. Thank you again.

I'm going to try it again tomorrow, I like the tip about only using the hips in the motion, not using your back and shoulders. I tried it last week and hurt my back, I'll go lower tomorrow and will be super strict.

Isn't this the exact opposite of what Bret advertises with his hip thrust bar? In the video he's teaching the lady in pink to rotate back and look at the ceiling.

Thank you so much - I’ve been searching for tips all morning knowing that I definitely strained my lower back a bit . I’m certain I was doing the rocking motion and did not keep my chin tucked. One of the only videos about hip thrusts on KZbin done correctly. There’s so many “correct form” videos where the chest is doing major movement! Thanks for clarifying. I’ve heard the “scooping” verbiage help with ROM & form too

Maybe it’s the powerlifter in me but I always feel like I’m doing these wrong. Unknowingly I was doing most of it right the the placement just under the scapulas was where I was doing it wrong. Thanks for providing good tips without over complicating it!
