"Stop drinking the water": Spokane residents face uncertainty with PFAS in their wells

In 2017, PFAS were detected in underground water at Fairchild Air Force Base and Spokane International Airport. With few answers about the scope of contamination, residents are unsure their water is safe to drink.

I’ve noticed the military doesn’t consider the impacts of the things they use on people. I’m thinking agent orange in Vietnam, burn piles in Middle East wars. It takes along time to get their attention, if Fairchild has PFAs, what about Joint Base, NAS Whidbey, Moses Lake?

it is pfBs also.. and many more used for nonstick pans(for food!!) and clothing that repels water like synthetic nike and adidas longsleeve water repeling jackets

a lot.. i try to tell people about this, yearly... also its more than pFas.. there is also pFbs and more. The State of Michigan has an interactive map for all waters tested for this... it should be in all 50 states, and most countries should... truly.

there is also more than pfas.. pfbs also and more... some are used to make nostick pans, and clothes that repel water(a lot)

Regenerative agriculture is good for the soil, the farmer and the consumer. Farms don't require these poisons!

The chemicals in question are used in the process of training USAF firefighters. The PFAS chemicals are in the foam they use to put out fires.

Im 30 miles downstream from the recent Thompson fire wihich borders Oroville reservoir and I am certain that the toxins from the fire are in our drinking water

That guy should try the Jacksonville Florida city water. Don't know about pfas, but lots of heavy metals and the taste was awful. That was in 2018, has it improved?

The Seattle Times just endorsed Ferguson for Gov. The same guy who is absolutely responsible for letting criminals back on the streets with little to no punishment. No. Washington deserves better. Ferguson will be 10x than Inslee.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is the agency trying to help the people affected by the chemicals and hold the military responsible. Republicans across the country want to get rid of the EPA as well as the Department of Education and a whole list of government agencies designed to protect us. Bob Ferguson supports the EPA and the rights of Washingtonians against big business and big government. Why would anyone want a Republican governor who does not support the EPA or any efforts to help these people?

Filters containing activated carbon or reverse osmosis membranes have been shown to be effective at removing PFAS from water supplies.

Almost all clothing are made from petroleum aka plastic, fleece, spandex, rayon etc. when washed they release pfas into the water supply. Fire retardant is the tip of the iceberg

Problem is the chemicals are continuously leaching into the ground water and filters can only remove some of it, NOT from the entire water supply, but only from water being treated before it is used.
