Our day kicks off with the completion of the morning feed for our ewes and their lively lambs. Providing them with the nourishment they need is a crucial aspect of our daily routine, setting the stage for a day filled with care and attention to our flock.
As we move forward, we encounter the challenge of fly-blown sheep. I catch and treat each affected sheep, ensuring their relief from this discomfort. It's a testament to our commitment to the welfare of our animals.
The day's tasks continue as we bring up a group of ewes and lambs for a comprehensive session of weaning, drenching, and crutching.
Join us in this vlog, where we showcase the multifaceted nature of farm life, from the routine of feeding to the critical interventions required for fly-stricken sheep and the comprehensive care provided during the weaning process. Don't forget to hit that like button, leave a comment, and subscribe to our channel for more farm vlogs and insights into our agricultural lifestyle.

It's very easy as a regular old person to become disconnected from the hard work farmers do because we just go to a store, and buy things. The work you all do, be it harvesting crops, wool, meat, and the like are something we all need to be more connected to. It's great to see everything you do, and your relationship with the dogs. Keep it up! It's all great content.

So impressed that you show the fly blown sheep. Too many ignorant ‘townies’ carry on about farmers docking lamb’s tails. Now they will understand it is a way to prevent the lamb becoming flyblown - and note those maggots were not very old so it can be far more serious when the maggots mature longer on the poor sheep.

Footrot Flats, a New Zealand comic book about a shepherd named Wal and his sheepdog Dog, are constantly fighting "fly strike" as they call it. Also a lot of UK content talks about "fly strike". I'd reckon it's an international thing by that standing.

I think most people don't want to watch this kind of content in conjection with what they the audience is doing while browsing for content: like eating or relaxing. I find it fascinating and this kind of 'realistic' farming content is important for those thinking of getting into this work. Same way I think birth and parenthood is romanticized: young people have kids and grow resentment due to one aspect or another that no one told them about. Im rambling but this is a utube comment no one but a few will see :) YOU GO GIRL!!! Wooo

@@TaraFarms Maybe livestreams while your moving sheep about? You could chat/answer questions while sat in the car following along behind the sheep. Seems like those moments are always trimmed down for videos so might be nice to experience just how long of a process it can be. Might also break up the monotony a little since I'm sure once the tricky part of getting them moving is done it becomes just a matter of making sure they don't wander off.

You can bait the vaccine? Or, it makes sense to vaccinate animals that don't yet have symptoms! But I'm fairly certain once symptoms come, it's 99.999% lethal. But yeah, always smart to give vaccines or treatment if a rabid animal has been in the area, so there's not suddenly a massive "zombie outbreak", that's the LAST thing the world needs right after covid 😂😅

I only watch one other sheep farming channel … but I do know the issue of flyblown does exist with cows at times … particularly the Highland breed. Definitely something for some farmers to keep an eye out for. Sandi Brick tends to deal more with lice and it’s only been about a year for the Golden girls, if that, who are outside and susceptible to flies. She also keeps them regularly sheared as it does pay off to sell the wool. It sells like hotcakes here in North America … subscribers can’t get enough of it! You shouldn’t worry about what subscribers want for content … the warning are sufficient for those with weak stomachs … but truth be told … we watch these channels to see what your reality is! And you are absolutely normal … don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! Just a different walk of life! And yes, no more butts on the meal plan! LOL Thanks for the FYI! Enjoying the channel! 🙏🙌❤️🇨🇦

More technical farming detail would be welcome. A lot of people, me for example are not that far in time removed from farming ( I helped my uncles who were fishermen farmers in NW Scotland when I was a kid) and it's good to learn the modern ways of doing things tho' thank goodness we don't use hot irons on lambs tails, or a Burdizzo on the ram lambs any more. And yes we did occasionally get maggots on sheep though from memory closer to mid-summer - what Scotland calls summer anyway.

I'm from the UK. First time I heard about flystrike was when I rescued rabbits. I love sheep as a insta/ KZbin addict x

fascinating to learn about the different tools ranchers and farmers use. sure we(around the world) all have our harvesters and sprayers but to see a mobile shears that you just clip to the truck is awesome and to know people are making location apps for different diseases/tracking purposes... very cool :]

AWESOME content. Interesting to see farming on the other side of the globe. Your content has real life animal farmers, cute lil lambs, an awesome pup, and a REAL very attractive female being very powerful. I really look forward to catching up on past content. Informative, hilarious and REAL. Thanks. 👀🤔😊🤣😍

I love that floor in the barn where you were docking tails and things. Underneath needs cleaning out or does it break down pretty well? Sorry I have a lot of questions today haha

That’s just standard woolshed flooring here. Someone comes and cleans it out then sells the poo as garden fertiliser.

We love the longer videos and the videos of how you care for the sheep. Not like pets, no confusion there. Your work is really interesting to city folk like us 😊

Grew up round ag work in my family even if we've fallen out of it, so findin all sorts of sheep vlogs from round the world has been both nostalgic and informative since I'm thinkin of getting back into livestock keepin in the future- on a hobby level admittedly, I aint got the kinda stamina y'all proper farmers have So far though I think you're definitely the most hilarious of em all, your sense of humor makes even the most basic of sheep work fun to watch
