I’ve tried it. In most situations you’re better off doing the weed eating and edging. The cost of the chemical offsets any savings. A good efficient employee will ultimately save you money. Now a shrub growth regulator is a good thing, unless you’re charging for pruning as extra. Anytime you can choose not to use pesticides, that definitely the route I’m taking. I have been a licensed applicator for 15 years

Mike Adams it makes sense, especially in commercial work where you work into the bid how many times you expect to have to trim the shrubs (or edge the walk Ways - pick one). Thus, any amount of time that you can save from doing the work that you wrote into the bid means your increasing your profit margin! Whether it through a more efficient employee who commands the same wage or by avoiding the need to trim the shrubs at all; its hEconomics my man, economics. Now in residential it depends on whether or not you bill by the shrub job or if you are charging quarterly/ yearly to maintain the shrubs. Obviously if you are bidding by the job you wouldn’t want to use the product because you would be regulating yourself right out of some work lol.

That's a great tip and an interesting product. I've never seen that before. Seems like a major cost savings for sure from a labor standpoint and definitely makes the lines look crispy. Do you need to licensed in all states to use that, or is that a state by state thing?

not a fan of pgr's for most people as to many are not competent enough to know how to use them correctly. they can really mess up ecosystems if there is runoff which is common. sometimes that labor cost is a better choice vs the damage of sensitive ecosystems. just a different perspective to consider. not saying this is a bad product but more caution really should be applied if using pgr's as it can be just as bad as adding invasive species to sensitive areas.

@brucec436 жыл бұрын
I experimented with it a little. I'd stick to hard to trim spots like fence lines. Here's why. It lasts RELIABLY about 1 month. You already have to edge it the first time, and applying it takes about as long as a second trim/edging. So you've done half the labor. Then the cost of the chemicals is probably equal to the labor of a 3rd trim/edge. So you're saving 1 edge/month, maybe 2. Shrubs is another thing. But if you don't have shrub trimming already worked into the set price, you of course would not be getting paid for it. I found that "trimmed" is in the eye of the beholder, and my solution was to charge established customers for the trimming each time. That way if they wanted it done more often to catch a few stringers, they paid for it. Some shrubs will get ragged in a month. But if you charge for the whole process once/month, your bid is uncompetitively high.

Great video! Never tried Edgeless on turf, but have used Cutless Granular on shrubs. Also, being a licensed applicator in GA (Class 24) only allows an individual to APPLY restricted-use pesticides. In order to SELL them as a service to your clients, one must also obtain a Commercial Pesticide Contractor's License through the GA Dept. of Agriculture. That's a noble perspective and one that's worthy of respect. But here's the thing...unless you're living a green lifestyle and not contributing to CO2 , methane, or polluting our planet with plastic products...and living without ANY assistance from modern chemistry, whether it's GMOs, or antibiotics, or pesticides...then maybe you should be more forgiving because the emissions savings from the 2 cycle equipment in lieu of this application, is something to consider.
