A tip from a Korean makeup artist which stood out to me is that on special occasions we should try to strive for more timeless makeup looks and not what's currently trending because you are going to look at these pictures years from now in the future and you are going to notice how outdated it looks.
@wooogie6722 ай бұрын
i disagree lol. another beauty youtuber talked about this, but she says that she prefers to look at these “outdated” makeup looks in photos as a time capsule of sorts-even if we look back 10 years later and are like “wtf was i thinking!” it serves as a reminder that we are always changing as people and culture, including our tastes :)

Trends I want to leave the earth include the massive overlined cupids bow and the warm bronzer as contour. Looking like an oompa loompa blow up doll! Please make it stop! 😂 Edit: spot on with adding excessive products to oily skin! It looks horrendous within a few hours!

I didn't like overlining the last time around, and I continue to dislike it. I still remember redoing my lips after an MUA did my grad makeup because I couldn't bear the disconnect between her faux line and my natural lip line. Throw in excessive lip filler, where social media is concerned now, and 😭... it just looks so bad!
@queenofwales_2 ай бұрын
That overlined lip topic is such topic for some 10 years already. 😂 I dislike it so much (unless it’s done correctly, then it can be nice). Regarding the bronzer as a contour… to me personally it feels like I can’t really find a contour product. Mostly in the shops I see bronzers only. And even if I find a contour, it’s often anyway too warm for my cool toned fair skin. 😭 So, perhaps, that one is not always necessarily someone just using a bronzer for the wrong purpose - perhaps, the person couldn’t find a better / correct option. 👀

8:20 when you’re talking about lighting and how it changes the way make up looks. As a barber, I had a male client that worked as a bartender. So when at the salon with bright lights, the haircut looks different, compared to a bar top with dim lighting. I acknowledge the challenge it can present with out skill 😅

I think the overarching issue here is that so many of these trends were just made for social media engagement by (sometimes) people who don't really know what they're talking about. Like do you just wear makeup or do you actually understand makeup and what different products do?

Robert, I get what you’re saying about some influencers. It’s like they’re not offering things besides themselves sometimes. It doesn’t even have to be skill or talent in the area that they’re directly advertising - it could be editing skill - or they could be a good performer. But, when it feels like an influencer’s content lacks that flair in any noticeable way, it can be frustrating. It's like a one-way win for that person only, especially if they've been bought out when people are seeking honest opinions.
@humi6594Ай бұрын

Love the video!❤ one trend I'm tired of seeing is the freckles trend. Oh, maybe two, the whole 'I want to look natural, but everything I'm using isn't.' Like make-up is because you want to enhance your natural looks. So many people tell me,'Oh, I don't wear makeup...' but have a full face of powder foundation on. 🙃 Why the lie,Sis? We are all slaying in our own way, own it.

Freckles as a trend has helped me love and embrace the freckles I do have. I put on more because they're cute. I don't know what's wrong with it.
@michelealexander79952 ай бұрын
@legndofphoenix Not say anything is wrong but they're are people who go over board. I have no problems with freckles my niece and older brother has them. I just answered a question that Robert gave in the video. 😊 I'm not looking for an argument, hun.

Legit. If they wanna look natural, use a little tinted moisturizer and go on with your day.

@legndofphoenix one issue is that girls with freckles were mocked not too long ago. It's like mocking brown eyes, then wearing brown contacts the next week.

One thing that grinds my gears to no end is the “brightening” under eye concealer that is like 16 shades lighter than the person’s skin tone. Sometimes it looks like a make up caricature. People mindlessly try to up one each other w/o any understanding about what it is they’re doing. There, I’ve said it.
@deedeedussard2 ай бұрын
Omg I hate it soo much too. I was buying concealer and I'd brought one previously that was too light. I asked the shop owner if they had a tester in the one I wanted to try and some girl chimes in and tells me I should use the one I'd brought previously. I told her I'm In My 40s I don't want my wrinkles highlighted I want to conceal the bag the silly child who was 4 shades darker than me told me she used the really light one and it was fine. So I told her I wasn't a drag queen and to mind her business and not be in grown people's ISH and the shop keeper and another shopper started laughing and she finally left me alone and went to pay 😂😂😂😂 sorry that was long but it annoys me so much I super hate that look

And to add to the "bright" under eyes, they add a crazy color for their blush like purple or hot pink and it looks so clownish. So you have practically white under eyes with hot pink or bright purple cheeks. yikes!

This is good advice about the liquid blush I’ve been so confused cause every single time I see a tutorial with makeup steps it’s like liquid blush, then powder blush… and I’m always like doesn’t that ruin the colour / pretty finish of the liquid blush?

Fr, fr, people need to start learning makeup FROM MAKEUP ARTISTS instead of internet influencers, most of them barely can make THEIR OWN face look good irl and their technique and "hacks" are shit 😭

I just started doing makeup professionally and learned REAL quick just how much harder it is to apply on other ppl ..and now I cringe at all the "makeup artists" I watched ten years ago who only did makeup on themselves 😅 That's a fun hobby and all, but not being a mua

the amount of “this is why [light] concealer looks bad on you” videos i’ve seen from non-professional makeup influencers pisses me off so much. they’ll blend their literal bronzer underneath their eyes and put non-lightened concealer on top of that to compare with the “old,” lighter version. they’re always like “see the difference it makes” and i’m like… yeah queen… the light concealer still looks way better 😭💀

Agree on the cream blush! My skin is combo, and I've learned that I'd rather deal with dry cheeks, needing to set with hydrating setting spray over the dry areas. Cream anything just melts right off, even when I press my foundation and the cream items.
