A tip from a Korean makeup artist which stood out to me is that on special occasions we should try to strive for more timeless makeup looks and not what's currently trending because you are going to look at these pictures years from now in the future and you are going to notice how outdated it looks.

i disagree lol. another beauty youtuber talked about this, but she says that she prefers to look at these “outdated” makeup looks in photos as a time capsule of sorts-even if we look back 10 years later and are like “wtf was i thinking!” it serves as a reminder that we are always changing as people and culture, including our tastes :)

I think the brides from the 80s with the most blue eye shadow, pinkest of blushes and frostedest of tips would disagree. Those are the only photos we look at 40 years later. Not the nice wedding photos, but the ones where its hilarious to remember what we did and thought and why someone put their bridesmaids in lace and fishnets in 1984.

I much prefer a kiss of bronzer on my nose for everyday makeup. And very minimal contouring when I do. I don’t think people are taking their own nose shape and size into account when they contour. They just recreate the same two lines and a circle they see everyone else do.

@jessicarroman you obviously haven't watched enough of Roberts content to get his personality, this was just him venting. Yes he gets sassy sometimes, but so has James, and if you've ever watched the twins Channel where they're together, he's actually very silly and a big old teddy bear inside. Watch him interact with his dogs, or listen to him talk about people who are going through a hard time, and he's the sweetest. I used to think that he was the mean one, because he's got that sassiness, but if you notice it's always about people who give out bad information or say things that are nonsense about makeup to a large audience that believes them. If you had to constantly get questioned about these stupid trends that make no sense, or the stupid makeup hacks that make no sense, you would probably get sassy too

I’m 34, and I also agree. I in general feel like that it’s nearly an editorial makeup being brought out as smth nearly natural. For my posts on IG I definitely do it different than I would, if I’d go out. At this point I also don’t really like to see, when people does those kind of editorial makeups, but then skips editing the photos part, which is, imho, quite an essential part of the process to show off the work properly. I’ve spoken to people who are wondering “why these or that people’s works looks outstanding”, and I’m, like: “Editing those works matters. And lighting also matters. Call them out, Robert! The fact some of these influencers believe they have "credentials" (aka putting makeup on their own face & having followers) is baffling to me. It takes more than that. Also a lot of times, they put out either misleading or false content and posts about makeup only fitting for one face shape: their own. As an Asian American who grew up with predominantly white makeup creators on KZbin with no background of expertise, it's frustrating when they're telling you to do your makeup the same as them. Luckily, I did research of other Asian MUA to help me but it's disappointing to see the beauty community like this on tik tok & YT to this day, tho I'm grateful for others like you on the platform informing us on what's real.

Yeay in by 59 seconds! I second one of your opinions. The "clean girl" makeup? Have we been dirty all our lives? I seen some Gen Zs on Tiktok saying that eyeshadow are for old people. Like pleeease, you don't have the skillz (yet), just say it! ADMIT IT 😅

Ok, hun, thanks for the info but I want *DIRRRRTY* products, full of preservatives and actives supported by more than 40 years of scientific endorsement. And the fox said: "Oh no, it' s not that these grapes are so high that I cannot reach them😌. It' s just that they are not mature enough. I don' t want them". Yes, Gen Z fox, yes, you do NOT want them😏...

the thing that irks me about all these clean girl aesthetic things is that the routine never shows them actually getting clean, it's just attempting to look clean. like if you wanna be clean, shower lol. what you do on top of that will likely be clean too lol

I didn't like overlining the last time around, and I continue to dislike it. I still remember redoing my lips after an MUA did my grad makeup because I couldn't bear the disconnect between her faux line and my natural lip line. Throw in excessive lip filler, where social media is concerned now, and 😭... it just looks so bad!
@queenofwales_
@queenofwales_ 2 ай бұрын
That overlined lip topic is such topic for some 10 years already. 😂 I dislike it so much (unless it’s done correctly, then it can be nice). Regarding the bronzer as a contour… to me personally it feels like I can’t really find a contour product. Mostly in the shops I see bronzers only. And even if I find a contour, it’s often anyway too warm for my cool toned fair skin. 😭 So, perhaps, that one is not always necessarily someone just using a bronzer for the wrong purpose - perhaps, the person couldn’t find a better / correct option. 👀

Robert, I get what you’re saying about some influencers. It’s like they’re not offering things besides themselves sometimes. It doesn’t even have to be skill or talent in the area that they’re directly advertising - it could be editing skill - or they could be a good performer. But, when it feels like an influencer’s content lacks that flair in any noticeable way, it can be frustrating. It's like a one-way win for that person only, especially if they've been bought out when people are seeking honest opinions.

One thing that grinds my gears to no end is the “brightening” under eye concealer that is like 16 shades lighter than the person’s skin tone. Sometimes it looks like a make up caricature. People mindlessly try to up one each other w/o any understanding about what it is they’re doing. There, I’ve said it.

Omg I hate it soo much too. I was buying concealer and I'd brought one previously that was too light. I asked the shop owner if they had a tester in the one I wanted to try and some girl chimes in and tells me I should use the one I'd brought previously. I told her I'm In My 40s I don't want my wrinkles highlighted I want to conceal the bag the silly child who was 4 shades darker than me told me she used the really light one and it was fine. So I told her I wasn't a drag queen and to mind her business and not be in grown people's ISH and the shop keeper and another shopper started laughing and she finally left me alone and went to pay 😂😂😂😂 sorry that was long but it annoys me so much I super hate that look

the amount of “this is why [light] concealer looks bad on you” videos i’ve seen from non-professional makeup influencers pisses me off so much. they’ll blend their literal bronzer underneath their eyes and put non-lightened concealer on top of that to compare with the “old,” lighter version. they’re always like “see the difference it makes” and i’m like… yeah queen… the light concealer still looks way better 😭💀
