Wrap a double ring of duct tape around the base of your tree and spray on Rust Check oil. The caterpillars won't go past the rings! Protect your tree from Gypsy moth damage. I installed this on the last week of May 2021 in Toronto.

Looks like a good solution! I'm wondering if something like this would work in Spain for processionary caterpillars? Such a problem here.

From Brant County Ontario. There were several hot spots in the County last year, closest 8 to 10 k away. Swamped this year. Checked oaks in yard but overwinter nests on maples and walnut. Have moth traps out today. Where are predators?

I have not looked at my other 390 acres. Protect the oaks, sacrifice the walnuts

I'm spraying on the egg massa too, hope this works, do you know anything about it? I had 20 acres of devastated forest 2 weeks ago, I'm very scared about this situation. I bought this beautiful property in Michigan with intentions to make beautiful gardens around my house, I was not aware of this pest.

You can’t put any grease on the bark since it’s harmful to the tree. The grease is only good as a barrier because the caterpillars don’t like to walk on it.

@@georgesgarage416 So for a person who has 20 acres of mature trees doesn't have much solution, it's practically impossible to tape all the trees, not to mention that my neighbors must have the same amount of acres of mature trees, I'm very sad about this situation, I bought this house in August 2020, did not know that this plague existed. A very stressful situation because all I've seen on youtube is that it's years and years of devastation. Thank you very much for answering me, I do not know what to do to have a controllable result, as it is financially impossible for me to hire a company every year for this purpose, I invested all my economic reserve in this property and I am very unmotivated after seeing this.

@@samgreen6625 I am so focused on one tree that I can’t imagine trying to protect a lot of trees. Look into trapping the moths using moth traps . You can prevent them from laying eggs for the next generation. I’ve heard people say that moths come in waves and disappear. Our caterpillar problem started last year so I’m hoping to keep them at bay until they migrate elsewhere in a few years.
