This is great advice! I have played Summoners’s war since day one and I am very familiar on how to farm so I use the same experience with star rail. You are spot on for people who have never played a gatcha game and also it’s okay to use a four star relic with great stats rather than a bad five star relic with bad stats. great video.

im a returning player thats still stuck in 1.4 kafka release time, and the past few weeks have been so confusing to me because of all the new content and new meta. i was havinf this exact relic hoarding problem and i hated not immediately being able to analyse and "grade" a relic's stats (e.g. genshin conditioning me into seeing def and hp stats as "bad"), so this is exactly what i needed, and at the perfect timing! used to watch your videos back then, looks like I'll be coming back as well. thank u for all your hard work!!

I generally just salvage anything that has 2 flat HP/DEF/ATK subs (excluding rare stuff like ERR Ropes or Speed Boots), then also salvage ones that has a main stat that doesn't fit the set and characters it is used on. And while my amount of Relics is slowly growing, it is mainly because I need to trash some of the weaker pieces from support sets.

Good advice. The copium pieces are filling up the relics but they are hard to just destroy. That said… seeing someone fodder a 5star relic with double crit lines and nothing useless like flat def… that’s a luxury I definitely don’t have 😅

This video has saved my experience for the game. I was so close to quitting the game permanetly because the game only believes in giving me hp, defense and speed relics. and that fact allready HAVE torn apart things that then saw would been usefull another char just got. like i got sparkles artifacts before sparkle like they were high good average, tried rolling again for sparkle was all trash and more trash so even the "average" peices i saved ended up being BEST for sparkle, but before sparkle release they were just "Trash"

Another thing i like to do when weeding out relics I won't use is sort by flat stat substats. Anything with all 3 is an immediate salvage, and I skim through any with 2 and usually end up salvaging most of them. Sometimes you can find a gem with two perfect subs, but it's rare, i usually salvage almost all of them.

I feel like, it's worth pointing out that I'd actually decide how valuable substats are on relics based on what the relic's set bonuses are. On the Thief or Talia sets, for example, I honestly might value Break Effect subs even moreso than Crit subs; while there are characters who benefit from both Break Effect and Crit, you'd only really run the Thief set or Talia set on characters who benefit from Break Effect anyways so you KNOW it will be valuable, meanwhile they may or may not benefit from Crit subs (rn the only character I can think of who seriously wants to build into both Break Effect and Crit is Xueyi and she already has Genius, so until we get a non-Quantum character who scales heavily with both, IDK). I also prioritize SPD substats on most 'support' sets, just because of how valuable SPD is (the faster your characters are, the more your buffers can buff, the more your healers can heal, and the more all of them can generate SP).

This is when i think HSR players understood the assignment better than Hi3. There's so many Hi3 stigmata that are never used because they aren't the gacha set tied to a specific character. Which kills creativity in team compositions

A few additional notes: * 'Farming planetary sets takes longer' - Via simulated yes, but theres planetary extraction using whatever (likely broken) Divergent clear build you have this week, so that speeds up planet farming time substantially * As a F2P player who was initially approaching relics as 'let me farm for a character' - this video points out that its probably better to focus on relics IN A VACUUM - Meaning, treat each piece on it's own. Got a body with outgoing healing but you're trying to up the DPS on someone? Pause on the character, and level the piece anyway. It will take you longer to build up an individual unit, but if you focus on relics as a stand-alone, you'll soon end up with a collection of solid pieces that you can mix and match on your core teams (which likely rotate a bit anyways since youre F2P) until you have enough good pieces to lock a set down to a character * As a F2P player, this video should go HAND-IN-HAND with the efficiency guide one you mention/link at the end. For F2P its equally as important to farm high-value, multi-use pieces along side this 'which ones should I level guide' Coincidentally, now that I think about it - your DB from the Efficiency guide video would be really useful for a mini app where you can plug in your F2P characters, and get a sense of what relics you should farm and focus on leveling - This is something I'd be interesting/am capable of doing. The implication being that since F2P doesn't have a lot of resources to level relics, we might opt to salvage a good standalone piece in favor of getting our Feixiao that much stronger now for MC or whatever. I think my biggest issue separating relics is EHR / BE substats. I don't really know how to evaluate them. Like I have a +3 Genius Head with flat ATK, HP%, EHR and ER. Considering that at least SW exist that wants EHR, defensive stats on Genius, should I keep this? (Btw, I do have SW and mine has a piece with both EHR and BE, but what is the possibility that another similar character shows up?)

My strategy is this: for more common pieces (1st, 2nd, 3rd slots) substats has to be 4x at level 0 with maximum 1x flat stat (flat atk/ def/ hp ) or 3 substats without any flat stats. Which stats are those to keep is dependent on set. Anything with mainstats- Speed, ERR, crit rate, crit damage can allow +1 flat stat in level 0 to keep. Regarding Ropes and balls, i sometimes keep trash items of one mainstat if i dont have any of it that has basically any potential to roll in one stat that is insane and therefore to be kept..... But if i have 6x lightning damage spheres, i will treat them same as common pieces

I have been trying to explain this type of stuff to people who sturggle finding good speed rolls. As a day 1 player we have no reason why we shouldnt all have atleast some decent sets. I exclusively farm DoT/FUA set. I do have nice Thief set that I save one for Xueyei. Still, Idk about keeping DoT gear with crit/critdmg cuz unless Archeron is amazing with the set I don't think anyone can use that. And for FUA, I keep crit/crit dmg as sub and crit for body as minimum, needless to say, its rough (best I got was 2 pair of glove with crit/critdmg).

Yeah, I find this domain (is it a domain in this game?) and the one that has HP/SPD to be the two most worth investing into. There are so many units that can make use of either the 4 piece bonuses or mixes of two and two. Looking forward to seeing what weird new sets get released this year

Sitting here with 1200 locked 5* relics (I don't keep four star relics anymore). What I'm concerned with is my rules for locking... "does it have double crit? does it have spd? does it have err?" otherwise I don't tend to lock it. I'm so doomed lol. (edit: note those rules are any not all, so double crit it get's locked)

If you’re new and are just getting by. Yes it’s better to have good stats on pieces than a 2-4 piece set. It’s better to have a good crit ratio than the set bonus.
