The ever increasing price of razor cartridges forced me to switch to a safety razor. The blades are cheap. I bought a box for a few bucks, which will last me years. I gave up the shaving cream for warm water. Then I apply Old Spice aftershave. That’s all there is to it for some of us. Wish it was that simple for the rest of you.

I really love the safety razors and am getting into shaving and stuff like that. I would (still do at times) use regular Gillette 5 blade cartriges, the progilde or the fusion 5, something very generic and easy to use. The only issue is the price for the cartrige. Today, I had to shave with the Gillette razor because I didn't shave today for a day or two and my chin hair felt very spiky and irritating and painful and the chin area is a huge problem area for me and the mustache too. I switch out the razors from time to time with the De safety razor, Harry's, Gillette or sometimes a Philips rotary razor. I know in the shaving community, using cartridge razors are kind of a taboo, but I like to try various razors and I am also a sucker for marketing! Great vid!!

I suffer from ingrown hairs pretty bad… Can I shave against the grain with this razor and get no ingrown hairs since it doesn’t shave too close?
@averageguytested Жыл бұрын
The reason you suffer from ingrown hairs is because you’re cutting them too short - under the skin’s surface. SKINGUARD is designed to stop this by leaving the stubble a touch longer. You can shave against the grain, but use light pressure and limit your passes-/ let me know if it works.

Thank you for reminding us men that we are the ones to be blamed for irritating our skins because of wrestling with our faces instead of simply shaving them. However, finally I solved my irritation problem with buying a Panasonic ES-ST25 - Shaver which works like a charm. Irritation gone and I can shave anywhere almost like a Gillette experience. Please think about reviewing electrical shavers 'cause they will solve many men's problem with the irritation. Thank you for the videos and the efforts. Keep on doing the nice job.

Brutha Tony, I must thank you for the how to shave tips you gave in this video. I've been using Andis neck liners for years to shave my face, neck & head. But lately I've been rocking the smooth face but with just my wavy salt'n pepper hair only on my chin. Not that crazy 3/4 goatee some dudes wear! No mustache & soul patch, just a hairy horse shoe around your mouth🤣 looks crazy to me but I digress! So I've been digging this style because it basically shows your face but just enough well manicured salt'n pepper hair on your chin so they call you Mister 😁 But I got tired of scraping my face with those neck liners & been wanting to try this Gillette Skin Guard razor but I've never used a razor in all my 55yrs of living. I watched this video about 10 or 15 times & I went on & bought this razor from Amazon & it came with 4 razors. Good price too! I'm a Bump Patrol fan & they've came out with a full line catered to black men & men with sensitive skin. I got the pre-shave lotion & the shaving gel. I've already been using the after shave & moisturizer. Stuff is the truth! But I did everything you said to do & did in your video. Just kinda feather it & don't pull your skin tight, just let the razor do it's thing following my hair pattern & then go back up against the grain on my neck & jaw line to finish it off. Tony my man, i am smooth like butta! I haven't been this smooth since my Royal Crown days. It's like that Magic Shave powder & funky as a mofo🤣 My dad used it so I used it. Good stuff but man is it messy. So after I jumped out the shower, I slapped on the Bump Patrol after shave & yes my face was smoking a little bit but this stuff is good! Then slap on the moisturizer & I'm smooth & good to go! Now I do make it apart of my wash up to use a soft bristle brush along with "Palmer's natural cocoa butter cream soap" and exfoliate every day in the shower. Get that deep down oil & dirt out and keep an even skin tone year around like I've been in Florida!😁 Tony you've shown a 55yr old man how to shave with a razor for my 1st time & I thank you my brutha. No more scraping my face with those neck liners! Stay safe & be blessed & Happy Holiday's to you & your family 💯👍🏿✊🏿🙏🏿

Thank you for your extensive video, Not even Gillette spends that much time on their product commercials ;-) I am always looking for a convenient shave. For a long time I used Fusion 5 which last very long. Then I started using the thinner blades Fusion 5 Proglide, which shaves better, but lasts less longer unfortunatelly, so it becomes more expensive! Now I am ready to try Skinguard Sensitive which seems a whole new ball game. Will I need more attention and preparation for my daily shave with this system? And how long do they last in comparison to the othe two?
@averageguytested2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind words! Yes - SKINGUARD is a really interesting system. I haven’t given it a long term test, but I’d bet it will last at least 15 shaves. Once you get your beard acclimated it’s all smooth sailing. Just remember it won’t give you the glass-like BBS that Fusion offers, but it’s a great quick and easy nick and irritation free option.
