Many of the beggars in America are wealthy. Begging is their side hustle. It's a scam. We do have actually homeless people here, but those standing on the street corners looking downtrodden while holding signs asking for money probably has more money than you. Follow them for an hour after they're done with begging, and you see the luxury car they drive and the beautiful home they own. Since this scheme was exposed, I now only give to someone when God tells me to.
