I love this video. Recently I got medicated for my clinical depression that has effected me for 5+ years and what I've realized is that even though my depression is significantly suppressed, I still have those lazy habits that I swear I'm better than. I sometimes even get defensive when my peers and loved ones point them out because I've lied to myself so often. Even though I have a pretty valid excuse, I still hold myself accountable and actively try to better myself even when it's hard because nothing in life gets better without effort.

this video will probably really help most of the late-mid teenagers and even adults who still haven't figured out what they truly want to do, i hope this video reaches those people. sometimes in life we just have to do it and stop procrastinating, it's really important to realize that. i truly hope they see this and learn that there is no perfect time to do something, just starting is very important. something that made me smile today, huh? i was sitting on my backyard gate/fence i saw like 4 small puppies and they just came to the gate where i was sitting and started just looking up at me it was the cutest thing i'm kinda regretting not taking a photo

I think the one thing that sticks with me is the phrase “words don’t do you justice” you know you can tell yourself all these words but in the end they don’t give you any justice maybe they give you justification but not justice there’s no justice in lying to yourself

this year mostly (last 9 months) have been the time i just spent on myself trying to improve. im going to gym 5 days a week sometimes 6 really depends on school and work. im working almost daily and keeping up with b+s in school for every class. i met a great girl which has been going great we have been on abt 4 dates and each of them have been good. its all abt mindset we all have the ability to better ourselves we just have to want it. i wanted it and im bettering myself slowly and starting to live life to the fullest. ill be going to Venice soon with my grandpa over summer for about a week. i stopped watching pixels at night (if u know what i mean) overall improving myself and mindset. keep up the content spec u have a younger audience that can use this advice!!!

That was a phenomenal idea that you expanded upon and expanded upon. I really liked the concept of discipline vs. motivation and I think that would be worth elaborating in its own video. This was very intellectually stimulating and the ideas you touched upon caused me to reflect on a lot of what I’m choosing to make “reasonable excuses” about not doing. Thanks for talking about taking responsibility no matter what (a pretty complicated concept that I haven’t understood well for a long time until just now), because I think that’s something I need to change and intentionally do more. I’m definitely going to watch this video a few times over! Keep up the great videos, Specular! ❤❤❤ P.S. What made me smile today was getting 5 reps out of a 75lbs-weighted pull-up like it was no big deal 💪🏻😎

At first i thought you were turning into those ytbers like hamza that talk about self improvement wich helped me a lot during 2023 and i didn't like how later on red pill content just took over and everything that surrounded self developpement simply became redpill content and forgetting about the main idea wich is self developpement. idk i just feel like everything started hating on women and people overall (specially woman tho). then men saying how depression hits men more and it just felt like an endless arguement that fights for who is more oppressed or in more suffering or whoever is the bigger victim and it is just a useless fight against woman, men and the entire lgbtq community. It was just so many things colapsing with eachother that have nothing to do with self development but regardless that's what it became and i'm really sad about it cuz i thought the internet would get better but now it's getting worse so it's nice to see a glimpse of that self improvement content we need for 2024 and the years that come along with it. I also thougth you would repeat the exact same things i hear all the time about "You have to keep your word! gotta learn to trust yourself! or Stop lying to yourself!" wich is fine i just hear it wayy too much (no you did not do the same exact thing, altho some stuff was reapeated obviously thats gonna happen its normal tho im just sayin) but torwards the end you gave me a really different perception of "lying to yourself" by saying "doesn't matter how justified you are it is still your responsabilty" wich i loved since i never thought about it like that and i actually absorbed some knowlage from this so tysm! (soz for long paragraph).
@Specularpotato4 ай бұрын
I appreciate this comment so much! And I agree, it's so easy to get lost in that world of hatred and lose the focus of what self-improvement actually is.
@TheMiracle_4 ай бұрын
also, i just wanted to add that even if you havent been my most watched mc ytber you have always inspired me quite a bit to make content and i finally started making some in the past month wich kind of relates to what you say in your last videos of "don't let you fear of failure win" or something like that wich i think it's kind of cool that you made a video about that right after i realized it was happening to me. idk i just thought it was a cool cuincidence @@Specularpotato

How do you find motivation to do stuff?
@ianpratt36054 ай бұрын
What I’ve learned throughout life is that motivation often doesn’t come until AFTER you’ve taken action. Sounds unfortunate, but it’s definitely true. The upside is that taking action also brings satisfaction, which allows you to stay motivated. Hope this helps

It’s a complicated idea, but even though the car accident isn’t your fault, you can still take additional responsibility for being late anyway, thus reducing the likelihood that making excuses (valid or not) becomes a habit. I recommend you rewatch that part because Specular explains it really well.
