I don't hate the PotP mold, but I like it with the Ricochet repaint more than I do Jazz. It's just the dark colors look more pleasing on the mold to me than white did.

Personally I still dislike POTP Jazz (I think the whole prime wars Trilogy toyline was over all bad) but there is one element I like about the POTP Jazz are the back of the legs. Hasbro should have used the back windows to fill out that area which would have also solved this figure's knee problem

This was a terrific review! I had a huge smile on my face the entire time, and everything you covered in the video was so well done! At 16:39 - Looking at both backs, I would much, much prefer the door wings, windows folding down to the inside/back of the doors, and the back glass to stay at the feed rather than fold up. Truer to the original toy and the backpack would be less busy, and the transformation would be a bit more like the original without all the folding up. Still, it is impressive what they did to get it so clean, I just prefer transformations closer to the original toys.

I love the look of this figure and this review, but at 7:43 when the reviewer says he doesn't have a single crack... it looks like he has the same crack I have at the front of the windscreen (lower middle by that circular mark). That crack seems to grow every time I transform it (which I've stopped doing now). I also seem to have a similar crack at the other end (and a crack in one of the arm joints that nobody else seems to have... I've not been throwing the toy around, just transformed it a few times, and left it in car mode for a bit). Later in the review the windscreen is covered by the toyhax stickers, which probably help (?). Love these reviews, and the work that goes into them.

I hate painted on windows. Clear plastic just adds visual vairiety to the toy, and yes, there is no interior, but making the windows even slightly translucent makes them resemble real vehicles more. Plus translucent plastic is more shiny than the plastic they usually use for the rest of the robot, which also adds to the illusion. Last point is it looks tasty. But I don't want important joints to be molded out of it, oh no.

I’m gonna be honest that I was scared to get studio series Jazz after i saw your report on the thin plastic roof breaking but hopefully if i can find a jazz again here in Indianapolis, a walmart preferably, I’ll definitely pick him up and maybe try to get a second one to make Richochet, using my gen selects Richochet figure as a way to have reference in person when i do.

My only problem with this figure is that on my version the piece that flips the head into the vehicle during transformation always falls out and the panel that’s just above the autobot symbol in vehicle mode doesn’t line up with the rest of the paint.

As per the usual, my thoughts about this toy and review in text format! First of all, that’s a great skit in the beginning. It harkens back to The Rude Awakening of Optimus Prime with the hilarious renaming of a character. I laughed heartily, lemme tell you. Secondly, don’t you EVER feel bad critiquing a vehicle mode of a TF toy. You’re a vehicle enthusiast, and that’s the end of it. Sure, they’re nitpicks by your own admission, but they’re only done because you’ve seen how amazing Takara Tomy/Hasbro can make their products and wanting the best isn’t something you should feel bad about. Personally, I’m in the “Hybrid of character and vehicle representation” choice from your poll regarding toy accuracy, and I’ve never considered thinking ill of anyone with a differing opinion. Thirdly, and I’m not sure if you’ve done it before and I’ve only noticed now, but those video segment titles are hilarious. “Clear Plastic Tangent” and “Robot Gushfest” had me gut-laughing all over again, so PLEASE continue to name segments like this. Fourthly(?), the advert was great. Kudos again to Prime’s VA, and the take on Wheeljack was fun to listen to. Also, hell yeah for size comparison posters. That’s something I can get behind. The fluid stop-motion is always awesome to watch in the ads, the bumpers, and especially in the review itself. I also own this figure, and like you, the roof hasn’t buckled, broken or snapped for me, but I’m always holding my breath as I transform it, having seen what happened to the one you shared before. I LOVE the Jazz robot mode accuracy, and I agree that it desperately needs the stickers to liven up the otherwise lifeless look, but DAMN am I impressed with the engineering and mold for this figure. In closing: awesome review. I’m glad you took your time with it, because I learned a lot about the models of Porsche that Jazz has been based off of throughout his run as a toy, and I can’t wait to see the next one you decide to do.

Even if I'm still gunning for the United (i.e. Takara RTS) Jazz coz this one's clear plastic issue make me too nervous to play with it, plus other things it does and it's not too out of scale, this one is otherwise pretty great as Jazz. I know it's not accurate by any means but I painted the bottom of Jazz's feet a dark grey (a little darker than the top of his feet), and it already added so much to the overall aesthetic since it broke up all that white of the car mode. As it is, SS86 Jazz, while it indeed has its faults, is perhaps my favorite TF figure of the past few years.

Helicopter Jazz was pure Electrum. I drop by for the extensive detail and the excessive humor and I haven't been disappointed yet. Also: Thanks for the tip about the ER Datsun boys. I've had Barricade for a few months now and never once noticed the notches for the mirrors behind the front fenders and inside the doors. As soon as you mentioned it I dug him out to see for myself and sure enough! I tightened his posture and it holds so much better. I can't believe I've done him wrong all this time!

Jazz has been my favorite character since I first saw transformers. The Bay verse jazz I had a blue and red version called smokescreen but I called it jazz. Sadly my brother broke it when we were playing together. When I watched G1 I loved Jazz even more. I got this 86 jazz and I wish his knees would stay pegged in because everything else is fine regarding the clear plastic. If anyone finds a solution please tell me because I would like to make my favorite figure close to perfect.

@@masterfarr8265 the only figure that gives off siege energy is Grimlock because of the liberties of the character design and the quality of the plastic, and the 5mm holes. But this figure feels extremely cheap and does not have those 5mm holes that define the siege line
