thanks for the video! What you’re describing is basically called “voice leading”. One of its principles is to move each voice the shortest distance possible, rather “jumping around” long distances with bar chords, as you described.

Exactly! I already talked about voice leading in some of my videos, so this is just a different way to look at it without explicitly mentioning it. My job as a teacher is to be creative and circle back to some of the same topics in fresh new ways in the hopes that one of the approaches is finally going to ''click'' for someone, depending on how people learn or visualize things.

i thought the title meant you would voice all the chords as 1,3 and 5, this is how i first learnt keyboard chords but i know it's not what people do now. i still use these voicings with volume swells as mock keyboards though.

This is how i create my music. I dont like full chords, I only keep 3 strings and stack them as close as possi le. When I learnt it the possibilities where endless.

Very usefu approach l. I'm mainly bassist and have struggled at times asking guitars in band to adapt what sounds good solo when they're with other instruments which might handle some notes. It's also good to know if you're covering songs written by keyboard player. They often don't work well using typical guitar chords

Amazing lesson, Antoine would you please tell me about this progression, if F is the tonality , how does it becomes F# minor after ? have you made any lesson about it so that I can practice it ? Thank you so much for the answer.
@AntoineMichaudGuitar
@AntoineMichaudGuitar Жыл бұрын
I don't have a lesson on that specifically. It's a key change in the progression. ''F - Dm'' are in the key of F Major ''Bm - F#m'' are in key of B minor And we go back and forth. It's very interesting to do that, because when you're soloing on top you have to change scales when you change keys, so it adds more variety!

@@AntoineMichaudGuitar You did well explain . I was just confused from B minor to F# while you started from F major. Thank you so much for the explanation ,

How pleasant is it to play Arturia's keyboards, can you rate Antoine on a scale of 10, please?
@AntoineMichaudGuitar
@AntoineMichaudGuitar Жыл бұрын
Pleasantness: 9.5 Durability: 6 When bringing it with me at rehearsals or shows, some of the keys started getting ''loose'' a bit. It's not so bad that I can't use it anymore, but a bit annoying at times.

I have a question that’s been on my mind for a while that is GAS related (random I know). For me it seems like I have everything I need - reverbs, delays, and so on - but when I go to play it sounds like absolute garbage. I spend so much time focusing on the sound and tone but not my playing and I get so frustrated not hearing the sound in my head when I know I have all the “right” equipment. I know I’m a good player but I’m having trouble being satisfied with the sound of my effects. Any suggestions?
@nedim_guitar
@nedim_guitar Жыл бұрын
I can tell you some things about that. First of all, what is the sound in your head? Do you have a reference? A band or artist whose sound you like and you would like to sound a bit like that? Do you play very ambient or more rock, with overdrive or distortion? What amp or amps do you have and play through? Or do you use digital modellers, like the Helix, Axe FX, an amp in a box solution such as Boss IR-200, Strymon Iridium, etc? Do you think your tone doesn't sound good in the room, or are you also recording? There are many factors here that impact your tone.
