@erinmayhenry Hi! Love you and your content as always I like all your vids before I even start watching them cause I know they’ll be killer like your confidence 😉😂 I’d love you know where you got your bar cart and the contents that are on it? And the plant? Starting to get into that vibe and can’t really find what I’m looking for xx

I think the reason why this works well is because when you set yourself up previously, you get the "mundane" tasks out the way, the decision making tasks, in a space where you don't need to expend energy that much, and then when you have to go and do the main task, you've saved up all your energy and you can give it your best. (not sure if it makes sense) but this is what I think anyway :) and I love doing the same although I can get better at it! so far the biggest things for me is to make sure my mornings are smooth and that dinner is easy, so I set those two things up for the day every day. Packing lunch the night before and planning meals + groceries a week ahead. Its saved me so much stress over the last few months and so I actually have more energy to spend on important tasks like my marriage and business.

I have been doing this lately too, I just had no idea it had a name! I love the idea of being more intentional about it. I also think this concept is great when you don't want to do something because it's already half way done. For example, if I'm thinking about getting takeout, but the ingredients for dinner are already sitting on the counter, how could I not just go ahead and make dinner? I would have to put everything away if I chose takeout anyway. Thanks for this tip!!

I’m a lawyer and use this all the time to tackle difficult tasks, I would say review the documents and hand write the changes as the set up and the the easy completion is just typing it all up. Or drafting vs editing or researching vs writing

Yohoooo, this is EXACTLY what I've been trying to figure out how to do! I've been procrastinating so much lately even though I know exactly what I need to do, and it's been really killing me. Since yesterday, I've been working on the 'Set Up' part of things so that when the time actually comes to DO the thing I REALLY need to do in order to actually move the needle in my life and business, I have laid everything out so that I have zero excuses to not do it. Thanks for being that little push to help me solidify this method! I'm gonna be trying this out in probably every aspect of my life for the next few months lol

**Been doing this hack over 20 years! ** I’ve been a Mortgage Professional, since I was 23 years old. I am now 45. I have been a property manager, leasing agent, real estate agent, and mortgage professional. Till this day, when I have a file on a client or property, I have to make a folder for each. Before I leave work, the last 15 minutes of the day, I would rearrange each file on my desk in order of priority along with a post it notes left right on the top of the file with a note. When I was executive assistant for a multi million dollar real estate investment company… I had three jobs in one that also included working underneath the senior vice president, paying the insurance for the entire company, and then paying the cell phone bill for the entire company . The only way to prioritize and keep myself organized. All of these years was to make little stacks. I still do that till this day even if it means, I have to create little stacks on the floor in a row! This brings me to my point that having enough work space at your job or at your home office is crucial! Sometimes it’s hard to do this unless you have a large island kitchen or a separate desk or table next to your actual working desk or table. And like I said it, the worst case scenario, if my space only permits for me to make a row of stacks of my work that needs to get done then it will happen on the floor When you do this on a counter or Desk or floor, it acts like a giant interactive to do list ! Some people can get away with putting all their work in one pile, and then just putting it in order of priority but in my personal and professional opinion, it gets very distracting. If you want to organize your stacks of tasks or work, in some sort of organizational plastic bin, that can also be another effective way, just to keep everything separate. This also allows you to see from a far by looking at your entire table or counter top. How much work you need to get done that day. If you only deal with paperwork, you can easily get some sort of accordion file system that can be a lot more compact. But sometimes the impact of seeing five stocks across your desk can translate to lighting the fire under your butt that you’ve got a lot of work to do! LOL😁 But whatever works for you. I just know as a real estate professional when I’ve dealt with peoples files it is super important to be extremely organized I also learned to do this from the very beginning, because if any of my coworkers, or the senior vice president needed to find something on my desk. It would be much easier for them to see each stack of items that I need to work on. Can’t tell you how many times I would get a call in the evening where somebody’s still at work looking for something particular that I might have And it’s just easier for them when they see how I have a little stocks for each client or property on my desk for them to find what they are looking for.

Omg thank you for rushing this hack out, Erin - and you're fab in casual off-the-cuff mode too :) This IS a massive hack - it saves energy for when you come to the task, AND hopefully will set me up to END my current task ready for the next one. (easy to get carried away when you're a composer/songwriter!!) Thanks for your awesome advice, as ever! (Love from the UK) xx

Hey lovely! This used to be the case for me too, but what has actually helped is curating my wardrobe. I literally only own pieces that I absolutely love and love to wear, this really helps weather you set the clothes up or not. It takes time (for me it took years) but when you get there it is so helpful!
@sersastark5 жыл бұрын
@@Erinmayhenry hey, Erin! I'm not an entrepreneur or anything like it, but your tips for productivity organisation and such help me so much in my freelance archaeologist life! I don't have a lot of morning decisions to make. My being an archaeologist means I don't have fancy/nicer clothes to wear regularly and I'm all set with it. I sort of wear a uniform archetype look based on khakis, field boots, bean boots, or wellies, shirt, jacket, hat, sunglasses and my backpack of gear/tech that goes with me on sites and surveys. So my entire wardrobe, minus party dresses and heels, revolves around that uniform set.
