Thank you for this spot on response and explanation. I am proud to say I am religious!! Not for piety's sake but for Christ's sake. I believe every word of the Bible. I believe we should do what it says without question or compromise. If that makes me religious well then I own it!!

Jesus thought it was and is a relationship. "Come follow Me","believe in Me", "abide in Me." Sounds like a relationship with Him to me. And then I have known Him for 47 years.

what people are trying to say is that, no one needs religion to have a relationship with God. there isnt a verse in the entire bible that says you need religion to have a relationship. thats what people are trying to say. because Jesus never said hes creating a religion. he asks for a relationship. also the verse you used at the beginning doesnt prove he made a religion. he just talked about if someone has a religion and doesnt do those things then their religion is fake.

@@KevinHalloran I 100% agree Christianity is a religion. I don’t deny that 1 bit. But what is false is “we need religion to have a relationship” or “those who are weary come to religion to have a relationship so I can give you rest” these things are never said in the Bible. Do I like religion, personally no. I don’t identify with a religion. Is Christianity the right religion, 100% I don’t deny that. It’s the only religion to teach what Jesus taught and without making up false doctrines.

Religion is missing the one thing that Christianity is and that is the living water of Christ. Christianity means the Spirit of Jesus Christ is alive in you. Religion has no life in it to give. Whoever has a religion is dead. Whoever has Christianity can never die.

@@inspiredaction162 you are hung up on words. Anyone can mouth out words knowing what you want them to say. Saying I am a Christian doesn't make a relationship. A marriage is not complete until it has been consummated. Christianity requires you to have experienced God. Therefore you are transformed and become a new creature. That's Christianity. Religion does not require anything from you but words.

What a wordly way to view this topic. This is what separates mind of the flesh from mind of the spirit. Traditional religions worship traditions, rituals, the church and man. They are not biblical. This is exactly what Jesus warned us about. God is above all things. I implore everyone to read God's word, establish a relationship with Jesus and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you. Not a wordly institution. ❤️✝️👑

So the church you attend - does it have 30 mins of worship followed by a sermon every Sunday morning? If so, it sounds a bit religious don't you think? Or maybe traditions are good? Maybe religion is not what you think it means. Is it good or bad that the sun comes up every morning?

As a Christian my self my whole life I have always said this as an adult that Its a relationship not a religion . I have questions about the relationship because I never see Jesus nor does he talk to me as far as I can tell how is this a relationship?

Wow, I’m reading through the comments Kevin and wondering how you do it? I fully appreciate your explanation and completely agree, but I’m puzzled by the comments underneath! It might be centered on a deep rooted disdain for hypocritical religious leaders (all history to the present) and a different understanding of the word Religion(religious).?? Sorry that there are so many disagreements.

When other religions see us it's a religion. But you and I can't be a Christian unless we have a relationship with Christ. Anyone can be a Christian by name, but in order to be a genuine christian we have to have a good relationship with Christ.

It's not about religion, it's about a relationship with Jesus Christ and that is an accurate statement for any believer. I think your title is very misleading because people don't say Christianity is not a religion.

The term religion implies the targeted God or gods are just a belief. Meaning its nothing more than an opinion. The modern term for religion isn’t an accurate term a Christian should be using, if they know God is real. If God is 100% fact, then the dictionary word religion loses its meaning completely. So I support anyone who rejects the term religion when refering to Christianity. Its bold of me to say, but it is the truth. The term religion is not the same religion in the bible. Religion is a french word refering to the gods.

I will not heed your request, sir. I will continue to advertise that my faith is indeed based on my "relationship" with Jesus Christ, and not on one of the "Big Five" world religions, namely "Christianity" which is a man-made non-biblical word associating a person with a certain set of beliefs. I'm simply a follower of Christ, a modern day disciple, a co-heir to the Kingdom of God, seeking daily to walk in step with the Holy Spirit, living in close relationship with my God, and only because of the blood of Jesus by which I am now justified and can draw near with full assurance of faith. The things I do as a believer (helping, feeding, loving, caring for, praying for, leading songs of praise, counseling, etc.) are a by-product of the change He made inside of me, which I continue to foster by spending time regularly with Him.......that is relationship. The overflow or by-product actions I do towards those around me are just a result of my active, on-going relationship with Him. Anyone can claim they are a Christian, just like Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, etc. So, I don't associate with "one of the Big Five" world religions. I'm in a relationship with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I think the bigger topic to address for those in a traditional denomination (Lutheran, Presbyterian, Methodist, etc.) is why the mass exodus of attendees in recent years? The reason is indeed related to this video topic. Young people are seeing through the dead religion in American churches, even in Evangelical churches. Even questioning "why are we doing church this way?" All you have to do is take a magnifying glass to the book of Acts, and it doesn't take a genius to see just how far off base the Westernized Christian Church (all denominations and Evangelical mega churches too) are in how they practice church gathering. We're not even close. But that's another topic.

It isn't religion; it's a relationship with Christ himself. Being a Christian is asking Christ to come and live inside of you. The Bible says, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name” (John 1:12 NKJV

The Pharisees were never hypocrites, and the rituals that they did were not empty rituals. All of the rituals of the Pharisees were Biblical according to the Tanakh, which you Christians never read the entirety of. If you actually read the Tanakh in it's entirety, then you would repent of your Pagan Polytheistic Idolatry belief in the false Demi-god Jesus, and you would return back to being true Monotheistic worshippers of Hashem the Almighty. Hashem doesn't see you Christians as believers, but instead he sees you as Pagan Idol worshippers who are bound for Sheol where you're soul will be forever erased from the Book of Life and will be forever forgotten. You won't even be able to go to Gehenna to have your soul purified so that way you could come back to Hakadosh Baruch Hu.

How do you define 'religion'? Because the Bible uses that word, it's not a bad thing, although there are bad versions of it. And of course a relationship with God is the important thing

Jesus never claimed that it was a religion nor the disciples of Jesus like John who wrote all what he witnessed with Jesus and wrote it down.

Appreciate the video but Religion is a rememberance of Christianity and the God of the bible is not a religion ,HE IS. Is fact ,through Jesus Christ obviously. You can worship him on mountains, in valleys ,in cities ,in churches and in caves , at work ,wherever you go HE IS . Temples are there for rememberance , religious rituals are actually useless for the believer , because God is fact for those who are called . Would I teach children to follow God without rituals and churches , sure do , because God is a fact.He was there before every religion was invented ,he is the creator of the universe and as a consequence Jesus had to die to tell us how we have to pray to the father and how to live so that we can connect to the father the creator of all things , because there is also satanic forces working against us .Religion is a rememberance it came after God and churches and crosses are also a remenberance not to be worshiped.Lost people go to Church to call on God and when God hears them they worship the church instead of God , they dont know that they can call on God through Jesus Christ only by word , its God through Jesus Christ that people are saved , not through other people ,churches,temples ,priests or what so ever . 1 Lord and 1 God with the Holy Spirit anywhere and everywhere 24/7.

@@KevinHalloran as explained , when you have certain faith , there is nothing left , God just is , the division of sect or religion will vanish .That's why people get lost , like the parable Jesus said ,of the seeds . Also if we don't have faith enough we ask and he will give us , churches suppose be there to guide people to God , see how many different ones , which one to go , they all pretend that there rules are the better ones from one another .They should just guide us to seek God through Jesus Christ and speak to him .We are saved because if we call on him he will guide us ,but its a lifetime journey .

Religion is about working your way to God, and Christianity is about God working their way to you. Religion is man made, corruptable, and filled with idols like saints and rituals. I have lyrics about it. SEEN IT ALL LYRICS: corrupted, religious, cultists are worshiping their saints and rituals Religious need to earn their way and impress the God they follow. We know that Jesus is the way and know man can'tbe perfect. Religion makes their own rules and modify. We just learn, listen, and read carefully There is one God, He's seen it all. St Micheal is not God he and you could fall. With our faith in the pope, there can be no hope. That's some of the lyrics I wrote

@FAITHandLOGIC No, I am not. That is literally what religion is. Being perfect and doing whatever it takes to please your God enough to earn an afterlife. Jesus says you don't have to. That's what makes it not a religion but a lifestyle. The religion that is pure verse doesn't prove that it is a religion. At least, that's what it seems people use that verse. And think about it that was written 2,000 years ago. So religion must have meant something else.
