setting up a fishing hut and putting an NPC to fish with blueberry bait will solve most of your food problems if you can stay on top of and process the fish they catch .

My question: how to I get my fishermen to catch more than seabass? when I go to tasks it won't let me. I've build a boat and dock and everything. Not seeing how to make that next step cause the Cod I caught have more fish fillets

Sounds like you may not have marked this fishing spot. To get your fishermen to catch more than seabass in Aska: 1. Manual Fishing: Catch cod manually first. Equip your rod and bait, then fish until you get a cod. 2. Mark Fishing Spot: While standing on the boat after catching cod, look around (not at the boat) and press 'E' to mark the spot. 2. Assign Tasks: In the tasks menu, select the marked cod spot. Now your fishermen can target cod. Make sure they have the right tools and bait for better results. Good luck!
