I grew up not far from South Bend, IN where Sumrall's empire was based. He had a reputation of being extremely harsh, authoritarian, and legalistic. He had multiple television stations and several radio stations. His grandchildren had reputations of being spoiled and they all drove Mercedes. When Lester died, a big squabble broke out among his sons over the empire. It's still talked about and they remain seperated. As for Katherine Kuhlman I saw her in Jerusalem in 1974. I had recently graduated from college, and she gave this last generation of youth speech. I was a new Christian, but the histrionics I witnessed during what I can only term as a stage performance really put me off. Oddly enough, as with Hinn, she is a great hero of Roberts Lairdon (whom I've also seen live.) As I'm sure you know he's a rather strange character who fell into homosexuality. His mother, who he absolutely adored, ruled the church & school they started in So. Cal. BTW - Lairdon's real name is Kenny Craft.

The “end time revival” was exaggerated. Other denomination also calls it “awakening” . Some other are “World wide revival” or “the great renewal”. Preachers can exaggerate things sometimes, they cant avoid that. But with all these the “Power of the Gospel wont change” it will cause Revival and it will come in a day where People will be in doubt, that way no one can take the Glory of it.

He actually has tables set up in the back of his 'church' where you can buy all of his books, shofars, Jewish prayer shawls, etc. I told my friend about Jesus chasing the money changers from the temple and that this guy makes up so much stuff that's not Biblical, his books are pure fiction! Jesus saved me through a friend who is extremely charismatic and believes in this great revival prophecy. He was used by God to speak to me, and my life has been transformed by Jesus. I'm a lot more conservative than he is, and I've got a foot in cessationism, don't fully believe in tongues, and certainly don't believe in baptism of the HS. So, my friend and I are very theologically apart. It saddens me to see how much my friend anticipates this great awakening. It baffles me because he is a man of real relationship and a passion for Jesus. How can he be so blinded and still be such a blessing to those around him?
