Tithing in particular was meant to be a system to help maintain The Temple. Since we don't have The Temple anymore, tithing is no longer the system in place. However, that doesn't mean we shouldn't give. It means we are free to give of our own free will. The word "tithing" literally means "to give a tenth." We no longer have to give a tenth, but rather may decide how much we are going to give, and the greater our generosity the greater God's blessings in turn. And I love your take that it's really all about sharing, Pastor Bob!

Tithing to me is a sort of taxation which seems like theft. But giving is a labor of love! I've always been poor all my life and I was also, homeless off and on throughout the years. But God gave me so much joy just letting him love the people around me in my life and in my circles! I am always excited to be able to give and bless others as much as I can in his name! Sometimes it's just giving of ourselves and our time...but it's such a joyful experience! You know, I think that's why we'll be praising him in heaven forever and ever! Because of so much joy in our hearts... Our everlasting joy is God's glory! He really does have our happiness in mind when he is leading and guiding us.

Ouch. That's an eye watering proposition for churches. I totally agree with wiggy though - surely the Church is there to support others less fortunate than ourselves as well as look after the members spiritually? The trouble is that there are too many that look at church as a Sunday club and don't really understand what needs to be done on their doorstep.

The problem is, pastor Bob misses the mark. Many churches actually feed the homeless. Not all churches are mega churches. When floods and disasters happen, the churches open their doors and volunteers from churches help families rebuild their homes. There is too much bashing of churches but churches have always been used for disasters and soup kitchens to feed the hungry for free. It's more apparent in smaller churches.

Clorox Bleach I believe you missed the mark of PB’s entire point!! For it does not matter what size church you are (in)....because YOU/WE ARE THE CHURCH!! I was reminded of a few things while listening to this awesome video Pastor Bob. Christ said plainly, "freely give and you shall freely receive" just as well as he made it plain that we should all "freely forgive to be freely forgiven". Godliness with contentment is great gain and oh what a wonder truth that is. We don't need it all and we can and should give from what we have. I've been broke and still able to give displaced people a place to lay their head with just enough food to see us through. No one froze to death that way and no one ever went hungry that way. I don't know why people would treat money as if it were some "end all" and hang on to it with such greed in their hearts. It's definitely not going with them when they share in the common destiny for all .... the grave.

I love your heart, Pastor Bob. "Where your heart is, there will your money be also." When we as believers in Christ realize that we belong to God, plus all that we have as well, and do, then giving becomes a non-issue. But, that being said, I no longer use the term "tithing" when speaking about giving, as not to confuse the issues of Old Testament Law regulations with the New Testament freewill Holy Spirit led giving. I don't want people to feel as though they are in bondage to support an old, obsolete Levitical priesthood of which I, a Gentile, and many others like myself, would not have been allowed to be a part of anyway. But, glory hallelujah! Jesus is now and forever our High Priest, not via the Law, but in the order of Melchizedek!
@WybjornVR11 жыл бұрын
PastorBobBeeman Perhaps this is a greater issue in some big churches in the US - in that sense I would absolutely agree. However in our church, I know the pastor makes a very measly wage and the 10% tithing command to support "God's workers" in that sense is literally the difference between having a place to meet (renting out a school gym) and the pastor being able to eat or not. Most of the staff in our church isn't paid. The sad fact is that in many cases, those that are pouring into the church wouldn't be able to afford it without the giving of the church. Many staff work full time jobs on top of their work in the church. Still have to pay the bills, and Biblically I believe this is the church's responsibility. Funding a massive aquarium in your church entrance, not so much.

I agree pastor Bob that giving from the heart is the main thing...even the bible says let every man purpose in his heart what he is to give...if im not mistaken....if you give out of a kind loving heart , that is what God is looking for a cheerfull giver...I believe in tithes to help the church doors stay open too, but if we have extra and see someone in need our hearts should be moved with compassion...but everyone needs time to grow and let God naturally move on our hearts to be giving out of love

I agree wholeheartedly with everything you said. When I stopped tithing, I actually began sometimes giving even more than my tithe because what I was giving came from my heart . It's not even about how little or how much someone gives, like you said, it's the joy we feel when we share with others that pleases the Lord the most. Thanks for this inspiring video which encourages us to give from the heart and like you say, give "hilariously."

Jesus also said what you do to the least of these you do it to me. The best thing in the world next to salvation is helping someone in need. I don't always have money but I often have some time. The smile from someone in need when you help them is worth more than gold. Mow your elderly neighbors lawn. Drive someone to the store or pick something up for them. etc. I agree Pastor Bob at least 50% of a church should go to outreach. I know of a church that was telling the congregation that they were happy because they had gotten their debt down to $1 million dollars!! WOW

PAstor B.ob, I agree with what you said here. 2nd Corinthians 9:7 sums it up when it says give as you've decided in your heart, not under compulsion. ... I understand that were no longer under the law, we're in a new covenant of grace because of Jesus, so when we give, instead of there being a '' ten percent '' rule, we listen to The Holy Spirit on how much we should give. But I wonder about it sometimes tho. Even the hyper grace churches still preach tithing because we'll, come on, that's how they get paid.... Not to sound snide but it's true, a pastor's salary comes from the offering. I've even heard hyper grace pastors talk about how we shouldn't even be repenting anymore, and that because of Jesus we are entitled to having every one of our prayers answered... but yet they still preach tything

Right on... I've been feeling more and more convicted about the state of our churches, at least here in the US. I feel like we should be giving to those in NEED and to further the gospel, not to fund more comfortable chairs, bigger TV screens in the childrens rooms for the staff to hear the message, new carpet, etc. There are people in this world starving to death who have NEVER heard the gospel and we want to paint our buildings and update our sound equipment... I believe there will be judgment on many of us for our careless spending.

In order to learn to do the command cheerfully, we first have to do it reluctantly. I don't feel like it so I won't bother. You'll never feel like it with that attitude! Remember the object is to convert someone naturally selfish into someone naturally generous and loving. Even in the protestant reformation of today, the Seventh Day Adventist movement, the average tithe is only 3%. Still I have weeks where I'm thinking I want to keep the money to myself today but then I realize there is no point in choking the gospel so I can buy myself a few more creature comforts in a temporary existence.

I totally agree with you Pastor Bob. I would also say that it doesn't always have to be money you give either. Like you mentioned it could be clothes, or like my experience a couple of weeks ago, it could be a sandwich. I don't have much money myself & so I would rather give to others who don't have much money than a Church that already gets enough to pay its minister & the bills. Don't get me wrong, my Church is quite small & does actually help missions rather than spending money on silly things, but they don't need my money as much as the homeless person needs me to buy them a sandwich & coffee. And I know that my Church is the sort of Church who doesn't have a problem with that, they support their members in whatever they feel called to do. I just wish that more Churches were like that.

I uses to enjoy tithing 10 percent til I researched it myself! Now I hate tithing, BUT do enjoy giving. I just don't see it as a 10 percent to the church. Maybe I wanna give so much to my church, so much to thus person on need, or that person in need. A tithe was from the OT mosaic law. Sometime i see needs and can't do anything because I already gave 10 percent to the church. I'm struggling with this. Like I said I do believe in giving and being generous about it but 10 percent to just a church. Maybe u wanna give 5 percent to the church and have some discretion on helping the poor and need out of my pocket.

Pastor Bob says it oh so right, "If your heart is right you're a giver". Myself I give 10% with the thinking that if that's what was given under the old covenant and in fact it was more like 23% when you add the Temple tax, then since we're under a new and better covenant why not give the same, give joyfully, give till it's hurts... at times I didn't know how I'd make ends meet, but I still tithed and somehow always get by. God is so good and after all it all comes from Him and if you don't feel like you want to give that's fine God will get along fine without your tip.
@deusfromotf31196 жыл бұрын
I think we should give, but keep that a private matter between us and the Lord . Others may feel bad because they have less to give and God is the only one that needs to know. Besides that, we should never give because we will be blessed or because God will give us back more.
@shellyblanchard57886 жыл бұрын
It is not earned income that was to be tithed as a support to levites in the old covenant. It was the fruit of the ground. Now we give an offering of any percent or it doesn't have to a percentage of anything. Besides some people wasn't required to do it at all.
@trevordoeseverything2194 жыл бұрын
I have always thought this way. I found that most pastors are just building a cushion stock pile on tithes because of how long they were of low income (because most pastors can’t find good money or work until their church blows up)

Erm... free from the penalty of the law. Sin is transgression of the law... so if we are free from the law... does that mean it's impossible to sin? About tithing... it was only agriculture and livestock that was tithed... never money. It was also given to the Levite's who are no longer here to receive it. They did have money in those days and Carpenters, like Jesus, who had no agriculture or livestock, didn't tithe at all. So putting it in to perspective... are we even able to tithe as the Bible defined it in the law? I think Bob makes some great points... letting people's needs touch your heart and finding joy in giving is something the Bible is definitely all about. God loves a cheerful giver! Shalom.

The scripture says destroy. He came to bring to it to an end. It didn't work. For one thing it didn't work anyway. It was only a substitute till he came. Most want to say that law won't go away till heaven and earth passes away. Jesus didn't say that. He said not one jot or tittle will pass from the law till all has been fulfilled. He did just that. So where does it say heaven and earth has to pass first before the law passes. It doesn't. Jesus said until he fulfilled it not before. Yet people want to turn it around to say the opposite. They don't want to say till the law been fulfilled, they want to add revelation in with it. Jesus said till the law is fulfilled it wouldn't pass.

Philippians 3:15 NASB, "Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that also to you" Great heart. I disagree only to the extent that I think a church should reflect the membership, and if a pastor has a congregation that averages 100K per year, I think they should live like a member, give like a member and reach out like a member. That might mean missions in Africa or India, it might mean outreach to Atheists or secular humanists scientists, whatever.

Help people adopt children by paying the fee's if the couple's can't afford it and many other things. We are no longer under the law and believers are not required to tithe.

God gave and continue to gives EVERYTHING you could ask for. Is it really to much to give 10% of what you earn to him?
@m.herbert526210 жыл бұрын
PureBreedGamer As long as you don't tell the babes that they are "required" to do it. There is no law to "tithe".
@DiscoStewed9 жыл бұрын
PureBreedGamer But ask yourself, is that 10% truly going to God? Or is going to buy that TV Evangelist yet another luxury car or private jet? I would encourage people to give food or their time to the poor. If you are going to tithe, make sure that money benefits those that truly need it.

300 Square feet?! On Purpose? LOL!! Why don't you just live in a coffin...we can build one just your size and that way when you pass on we can just pop you in the ground. XD Look...I'm just playing with you and I appreciate your thoughts. If you're ok with 300 SF good for you. I know you mean well...and you work with the poor and all of that. But so do I....and I'm of a strong disposition to think that whoever thinks this way hasn't been "broke" enough to wonder about how they were going to pay their bills with no upside in sight (look up the definition of "SCREWED" or “up the creek without a paddle”) I have PTSD because of poverty and it's not pretty. There are people who have walked with God, love Jesus, and even want to help their local church but they're broke, and one day they end up reading Malachi 3 and they've done all they know how to do, and have a STRONG desire to see Gods blessing in their life to change the situation they're in. So they read it again and ask themselves....did God really mean that? He didn't stutter. Because if you expect your local church to help you out when you fall on hard times....especially if they linger....good luck with that. I've never known one to do that except the Mormons. My point is...there are people who are broke and in debt...and it's not always by their own doing....and they would give if they KNEW God would get involved with their finances. At least tell them to give it a try and see what THEY think about it. Walk through it with them. It's not a yes or no thing. Why are we avoiding this conversation as the church? I know there are charlatans and TV evangelists who are going to burn in hell for using this prosperity thing against the flock...but If someone is broke can they expect God to get involved with their finances to help change it? Does tithing CAUSE the blessing as promised? Does God answer prayer...if so...how? What does that look like? Does He heal? Not one person out of 100 can give me a concrete answer...especially pastors. It's all wishy washy. What I heard was “give what you can..out of love”. Well that's GREAT! But that doesn't change the situation for the believer who's in trouble financially and in emotional hell and needs Gods blessing on their life. They need divine intervention. Thing is..if you're broke..and God will promise to be the answer you need for your provision and it's connected to the tithe then you are ROBBING people of the impetus that makes THAT part of the gospel work for them. If it's all grace..then why do anything? Love..that's what I hear....well...when you're looking down the barrel of your own survival and "love" of others...guess what? At SOME point....that's like asking a drowning man not to pull you under while trying to catch his breath. You make the sacrifice because that is your FAITH in action...and then God responds. When I've had a long day and I don't want to stop and help someone on the side of the road when the Holy Ghost whispers to me to do it.......I don't know those people....and if it's all grace...and I'm tired...love would say that God would understand that...and He'll get someone else can do it....but that's NOT how God works....I do it to be obedient to God..and I know that there are blessings for that. I don't have all of the answers but I think it's the same thing with tithing sometimes...because as much as I care about others ..and good causes....there are enough of them to make us all bankrupt and you have to pick your battles. So..I Love you and your vids....but I think some pastors are scared to talk about the blessing of God and how it's connected to the tithe. DOES GOD GET INVOLVED WITH OUR LIVES? If So....how? And which ways WON'T He get involved with...and why? Because my Bible has these following verses.

Genesis 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. Proverbs 10:22 The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it. Deut 8:18 But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day. Deut 28 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: 2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God. 3 Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field. 4 Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. 5 Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store. 6 Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out. 7 The Lord shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways. 8 The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. 9 The Lord shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, and walk in his ways. 10 And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the Lord; and they shall be afraid of thee. 11 And the Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers to give thee. 12 The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow. 13 And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them: Joshua 1:2 -15 now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. 3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses. 4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast. 5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. 6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. 7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest. 8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. 9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. 10 Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying, 11 Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the Lord your God giveth you to possess it. 12 And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to half the tribe of Manasseh, spake Joshua, saying, 13 Remember the word which Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, saying, The Lord your God hath given you rest, and hath given you this land. 14 Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side Jordan; but ye shall pass before your brethren armed, all the mighty men of valour, and help them; 15 Until the Lord have given your brethren rest, as he hath given you, and they also have possessed the land which the Lord your God giveth them: then ye shall return unto the land of your possession, and enjoy it, which Moses the Lord's servant gave you on this side Jordan toward the sunrising. Psalms 1, Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. Psalms 23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psalms 35:27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant. Job 42:10 And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before. Isaiah 45:2-3 I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron: 3And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel. Psalm 34:6, This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. Psalm 34:19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all. POVERTY is an affliction. If you don't believe that they you haven't dealt with it severely enough. Matt 6:2 2Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 3But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:4That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. Matt 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11Give us this day our daily bread. Matt 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. and on and on. The truth is that people don't WANT to pay a tithe so they find reasons not to. I personally think that if we are broke...then we are MISSING something...somewhere...some instruction the Holy Spirit nudged us towards.....I just DO..because God's nature is to bless. I don't need a ton. All of this crap is going to someone else when I'm gone in 50 years anyway. But while we're hear...can we PLEASE talk about the blessing of God and how that works in our lives in a BALANCED way? If it's all grace and nothing you do can effect the way God sees you or interacts with you....lets see if it effects your relationship with The Holy Spirit when you hook up with an unmarried woman outside of wedlock who you love but God tells you not to. There are people of God who WANT His blessing...direction...protection...anointing.....and almost no one will cover how our decisions effect that rightly.

See tithing as a principle, not as an obligation. Tithing was a tax imposed by God to the people of Israel, not to Christians.

God does not care about a building...l believe that those that do tithe and keep it to themselves...will not get to heaven.

why are people going to a church that behaves in this manner in the first place? The same reason people go to bad public schools or bad jobs: LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION

WARNING ! AS IT IS WRITTEN : Wrong interpretation about 2 Corinthians 9: 7 2 Peter 1:20 KingJames Version (KJV) " Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation ". TOPIC : TITHES A Controversial Teaching with Different Interpretations : LET US LEARN THE UNLEARN, NOT TO LEARN FROM NOT ORIENTED PREACHERS : They said, no more tithing written and order in the New Testament Is there really an order to Tithe in the New Testament ? Let Jesus our Lord and Savior be the one to answer this question : Matthew @-21 King James Version (KJV) 17 Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not? 18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? 19 Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny. 20 And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? 21 They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's. VERY CLEAR THAT THERE IS WRITTEN TO TITHE IN THE NEW TESTAMENT AS WHAT THE LORD JESUS SAID : “give unto God the things that are God's” ( a Compulsory ) THIS IS ABOUT MONEY AND NOT FOOD TO TITHE " Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny " FOR SOME THINKING THAT TITHING IS ONLY FOR FOOD OR LIVESTOCKS. HERE IS ANOTHER VERSE FOR CLARIFICATION REFERRING TO GIVING THAT YOU MUST SEPARATE AN AMOUNT FROM YOUR INCOME : 1 Corinthians 16: 2 New International Version (NIV) 2 On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made. it is written that you have to set aside the sum of money in keeping with your income. WHAT IS THAT SET ASIDE SUM OF MONEY ? THE TITHE ( 10% ) and THE OFFERING ( from your 90% ) ANOTHER VERSE : 2 CORINTHIANS 9: 7 New International Version (NIV) 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. Meaning: decided Decided comes from the verb decide. If something has been decided, the question has been answered. So when we use decided as an adjective, we mean that there is no question about it. If you have decided political views, you won't be swayed by any debate. Verb decided 1. simple past tense and past participle of decide PAST TENSE ! There is already a decision made, and that decision is to give the tithe for the Lord and from 90% is how much you decided to give as your offering. WHAT ELSE ? " not reluctantly or under compulsion " Not Reluctantly ( Offering ) means hesitation, or unwillingness WHY ? 2 Corinthians 9:6 New International Version (NIV) 6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. In giving must be Generously not Sparingly ( or small amount ) giving generously will result in hesitation or unwillingness ( reluctant ) but remember what is written “Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously”. Under Compulsion ( The Tithe ) As what the Lord Jesus said “Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's ( A Compulsion ). Com•pul•sion : Meaning /kəmˈpəlSHən/ Learn to pronouncethe action or state of forcing or being forced to do something; constraint. " the payment was made under compulsion" Similar: obligation constraint force coercion duress pressure In giving only Tithe is under Compulsion ( A Compulsory ), Why ? “Give unto God the things that are God's” as what Jesus commanded us. WHAT ELSE ? You must give with a cheerful heart not reluctantly or under compulsion, for it is a joy to his servants following the Commandments of God : Psalm 1:2 King James Version (KJV) 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditates day and night. IT IS REALLY A JOY FOLLOWING HIS COMMANDMENT and SAD FOR THOSE NOT … MAY GOD ENLIGHTENED YOU FROM THESE WORDS OF TRUTH and MAY ALL HAVING WRONG TEACHING THAT THERE IS NO MORE TITHES IN THE NEW TESTAMENT ALSO BE ENLIGHTENED. GOD BLESS YOU ALL ! From PMCC 4TH Watch Member.
