@@tombickers The FSF has money and I think they might be willing to use it in this case. If they win the case they have even more money. This might be a pretty cut and dry case that's easy to win, however I am no lawyer so I might be off.

@@jannikheidemann3805 There wouldn't be any money given to the FSF in a win, there are no damages since it is free and will likely remain free (as in cost) there would be nothing required to compensate besides court costs. Even then it would be a costly action money wise. Best case scenario if the FSF did go to court is that the last version of the apps will remain FOSS but future versions will be whatever. Worst case it is a loss and weakens the GPL for the future. No case is an easy win unless someone pleads guilty (but I am also not a lawyer).

Oh man that's so sad, I used the gallery and file manager to replace the google ones, now I have to search for new ones. Even if the f-droid versions are untouched I'll wait until the fork gets on f-droid instead.
