I feel liek I just commented on a different video but mixing is all preference and all unique to the engineer and artist. If you’re learning to mix do not take everything as the only or best way. Find what works best for your equipment, voice, and style

hello, yes you are right, this is how you learn to mix, yes a reference point is ok, but don't apply what you are told in the tutorial! If you really want to be a good sound engineer, you must know the process in theory! I mean, some professional sound engineering courses would help you! In these tutorials, the sound engineers record on $2000 or even more expensive microphones. With a $100 microphone, you will never make that sound! So take courses if you really want to be sound engineers!

Good video. I made a reddit post a couple days ago about how I got so much better at mixing in just the last few days by not following the same rules KZbin engineers set. Before you add a plugin, or change a setting, think about WHY you are doing this, and if you even need to. You'll stop using half the plugins you're currently using and still get better results. My mixing has improved by like 100% in a just a week doing this. Edit: I struggled mixing the low end in my vocals for the longest because I thought I had to always cut some, which isn't true. My mic was rolling off

that’s basically the difference between ppl who get it vs the ones who don’t. Knowing the technical things are important but a lot of ppl forget that mixing is also a creative process that can’t just go off numbers or preferences of others all the time. That’s why I never try and force people to do thing’s exactly a certain way. I rather show how you can use the tools and create whatever you like

​@@SKYJORDXN Fs there's no one, real method to mixing, and the amount of times I've seen KZbinrs say to "always low cut from x frequency" on vocals is crazy. I've been rolling off everything below 80-90 for 2 years because I thought I had to and I stopped doing that just last week and my vocals sound infinite times better

Bruhhhhhhh you said a mouth full.. I've always sent my ish out .. To get mixed and mastered.. Until I started this year myself I had no idea how crazy it is... My voice is uniquely unique..I did thaaaaaaat.. Watched vids did then ANNNNNND yeah trash... I'm finally in school for mixing.. And mic..interface..monitors.. All that make big differences.. I've seen templates that have 3 compressors in a setup and saying that "every big artist uses this" no they don't. There's projects that I seen that there's only 6 plugins which is subtractive eq, then shape vocals eq, de-esser, and compressor. Everyone's mixing and mastering is different
