They are incredibly smart dogs I started mine out teaching him words the he learned them like going out side he gets excited and barks if I ask him if he wants to go or if my mom tells me he needs to go, she could even say Dave go or my name and spell go and he would react. So we started spelling the words in communication to take him out to try to not have all the barking so I'll be danged he learned the spelling of every word in the phrase "do you want to go outside". He even wised up to my mom making a loud mhummm noise to going outside. He has gotten on a different level he listens to everything we say and knows when we are even talking about him without saying his name, he gets excited look on his face and depending on what we are talking about he might even bark or growl🤣 he growls sounds like he wants to eat us up when the word bath is talked about when we are talking about him but he never bites us he is just very vocal on his emotions. I never let it scare me or show the emotion if I'm scared I just say oh shut up and sometimes have to pick him up and carry him into bathroom 🤣 then he grows out his paws and tries to stop me on the door frame. And funny thing is the dog has learned to know that if any of the words of go outside are mentioned when we are not talking about him he doesn't react to any of them or if I say I got to go take a bath and I'm looking at him he doesn't react my mom while looking says my name like Dave needs to go take a bath he doesn't react because he also knows our names 😳. There is so much more he knows it's insane and to much to state🤣. It might also help his intelligence because I talk to him like a human. Like carry on a conversation sometimes 🤣 don't ever let anyone hear you doing this they will think you are crazy but in actuality it makes dog smarter

I have a sand box in the back year and my dogs have learned this is the only place to dig. I some times hide treats or toys it so fun to watch them find the treasure. I have 3 dobermans and one Rat Terrier and no holes in my yard. A simple sand box is a small plastic baby pool filled with sand. Worried about animals using it for potty at night. Get the next size up plastic pool to cover the sand box at night.

I am not sure if cinnamon is not good for dogs but I do know, based on my personal experiences with five dogs, that cinnamon does work 100% for me. I pour it generously everywhere the dog has dug, they sense it from afar and never touches it again. They even walk away from the area when they get near it. Yes you do have to put it out again if it rains. The dollar store sells large bottles much cheaper. Black pepper and cayenne pepper do not work for me. I even grind cinnamon sticks in a blender and use those. Cinnamon sticks have also worked for moles when I stick them down in the mole hole path.... in which my dogs love to dig up moles. The cinnamon sticks seems to deter moles as well. If you don't want to use cinnamon, keep rose clippings with thorns and put them everywhere the dog lays in your garden and they definitely don't like it. For those people that say the if the dog exercises, it will deter digging..... Not true, my five dogs live on large acre farm and play and run continuously. But my cure is cinnamon personally. I have never seen anything that works this good. It doesn't hurt my plants and also makes the outside smell so good.

I adopted a ACD that likes to dig. First day I brought her home she began biting the grass, tear a chunk of sod out, and then start digging. 😮Nooo! I started searching “Stop-Dog-From-Digging” videos, wondering how I was going to stop this behavior. Then God sent a wasp-a beautiful yellow and black jacketed helper. The dog bit the grass which the wasp had burrowed into and it stung her! She tried again and got the same result. She has not been biting the grass since. 😅Now digging along the fence to try and play with the neighbor’s dog is another story. I think I’ll try the poop tip. My pup just turned 5 months old. She loves, loves, loves to dig. I had a patio poured around the apple tree in the backyard, and had to have sod laid where the existing grass was removed to pour the concrete. She was about 2 or 2 1/2 months old at this time, and she started digging, and pulling the sod up like she was unrolling a beach blanket. She actually chews off a hunk and eats it, grass, dirt and all. I've never tried it, but it must be pretty darned good, as a day does not go by where she does not eat a chunk. Cayenne has helped, a bit. I bought two rolls of chicken wire and cut out sections and laid them flat over the sod, securing them with U stakes. She still digs, pulls up, and eats the sod around the edges of the patio concrete. I'm confined to a wheelchair so it's difficult for me to get to her while she is doing the deed, and even if I do, it's a game to her. She takes off running only to return and start digging again, mocking me. Once I think I saw her wink at me just before she continued to dig and eat the sod. A few days ago I was out on the deck, and I had taken the pouch that I keep my wallet, checkbook, and iphone in, off my wheelchair, to shake the dust and dirt out of it. I laid it on the side table of the grill, turned around to come inside to grab some disinfectant to clean the pouch, and out of the corner of my eye, I saw Miss Scarlett jump on the grill, grab my pouch, and before I could get back out the door, she bolted to the backyard. I did not realize that I had forgotten to take my phone out of the pouch. Fortunately with a very bright LED flashlight, it was found at the far reaches of the backyard, despite it being pitch dark. She will be the death of me!

So sorry to hear that! So when I say he "destroyed" my yard a few times, I mean pretty much only when the dogs were younger. And by destroyed... it really isn't as bad as it sounds. A hole or two I needed to fill in the lawn. One section of drip system met it's demise, and I think two planets got torn out. That was about it. After all my dogs were 2 years of age I never had those issues anymore. If the Dobie isn't for you, that's fair enough. But just don't let my "sensational" intros to my videos discourage you. You won't end up with a crater 200ft deep and a road wrapped around it for cars to drive on. Haha!

We have giant dug tunnel and one in the rocks. My husband saw this video before I did and said, "Doberman Planet has been spying on your dog again." We have an acre fenced in with a pool, extra fence there. Thank you for the poop trick. If she has a severe attack of gastroenteritis, I could get about half the holes. Not to mention, she gets off the bed or the couch and looks just like your image, but she's always loaded. The thing about the holes is that they're so skinny on bottom because of that snout. I can barely stand to discipline her because God created her (Through Lewis Doberman), to be a ratter. Not her fault but a real mess.

My girl rarely digs outside (and only after some small critter). But - she is really annoying digging inside. Especially in her basket, at the sofa and in bed... Don’t have a sheet without a hole because of her. Also - when we got kittens, she started nesting in our guest sofa-bed (which she is not allowed in) and dug a whole in that... Probably the only annoying destruction she has done. A sheet is easily replaced and a hole in her basket can easily be patched.

But tried it once, came back to check on him, left him in there for a bit with toys, came back and was horrified to find he had tore up a decent size spot in the carpet! Ahhh! We have corrected him on this many times, but to no avail, might even say it is getting worse. He's coming into his stage were he wants to push his luck, do what he wants, and really, really, explore everything he wants. Whether he knows he shouldn't or not. But I digress, if anyone has any suggestions for best ways to get him to stop chewing up the carpet, it would be very much appreciated!

thinking probably going to have to buy a pad for the bottom of the play pen, but seriously he needs to stop chewing the carpet period through out the house.
@sinevins3 жыл бұрын
He's to smart for his own good and a sly one, if we correct him about chewing the carpet he will then chew on a toy, then as time moves by slowly move from the toy right back to the carpet right next to the toy so it looks like he's still just playing with his toy. Does the same thing when it comes to chewing on blankets or the legs of the dining room chairs. Believe me I am used to very intelligent dogs, I had a couple Schnauzers growing up. I always like to say they were very smart in almost a human like way. But geez, Gabriel, my dobbi pup, is intelligent in a whole new unique way. It's actually insane to think about how smart they really are, and yet at the same time, he is just a huge pain in the butt!
@sinevins3 жыл бұрын
Funny , or ironic thing is that's how I think of him when it comes to his intelligence, most of the time anyways, and that's that he is so intelligent but he knows it to, and he knows he can just chose not to listen and do what he wants, and tests you constantly. Sometimes it honestly just comes of as he's being a @sswhole just cause he can and he felt like it, even if he does know better. Believe me his intelligence has amazed me, and but also it has created situations where I tell my fiance, take him and you deal with him for a while, so mad don't even want to see him right now, lol, if you know what mean. Patience, something I can say you most definitely need to have quite a bit of when thinking about getting a dobbi pup, is patience and tolerance, lots. Because no all the time, but there will definitely be many times where you will need every ounce of it that you have, and maybe a bit more.

Don't get me wrong, I don't regret the decision to get him, he is apart of our family and so amazingly wonderful, and sweet, and so so loving and caring. But I'm just saying, I guess these are the things you may hear about before you bring them home, but only fully understand once you've truly experienced it.

The best advice to prevent all bad behaviors comes from Larry Krohn. "1) The dog sleeps in its crate until they're 1 year old at night no matter how well trained they are. 2) The dog is not left uncrated until they are 2 years old if there is no one around to supervise them." That's of course given that the dog is given then necessary physicals and mental exercises. Bottom-line, if the dog is less than 2 years old and not supervised, they stay in crate.

A dab of Vicks Vapor Rub on or in the hole or area works like a charm. On or around furniture, places they are chewing (great for chewing puppies). It doesn't stain and can be washed or wiped off with ease.

My issue is she's going under the smallish deck, so I've placed a bunch of extra wood panels just to try to block off the ground but she's still getting in there the odd time. I can't fit in there of course and lots of ground to cover. Obviously I need to close the deck off, wish I would have thought of it before though. We're in lockdown and nobody is allowed to come out plus lumber is 300x more expensive now.

I had to use bricks to stop our dog from digging , she kept taking the small rocks lol but now she’s back at it

Wow! Sorry to hear that. You have to keep an eye out for part two of this video then - that one is more about behavior modification stuff (long term solutions) for the digging issue. Sounds like your pup is a little spit-fire!

My dobe pupp is only 55 days old, it's been 3 days she is in our house.. yesterday I found out she shakes sometimes at night in her sleep, not all the time but when she shakes her heartbeat and breathing gets higher. She is my 1st dog. I want to know why she shakes sometimes, is it normal at this age after seperation from mother? (She sleeps at her couch and I live in kolkata it's only 15°c lowest)

Hey!!! Could you please make a video explaining how can we deal with the ears training? My puppy always find the way to throw away it's apposites, and in some of your videos I could watch that your puppy had a kind of weird material inside it's ears, and nothing in the external part of them. Please 🙏🙏🙏🙏🥺🥺 I really would like my puppy keep stand its ears correctly... Regards from 🇲🇽

Yup, the prey drive is real. My backyard is filled with holes. One time I was shocked. My dogs were running in a circle and settled on a spot to dig. They could smell and hear the movement of a gopher. My backyard has a lot of holes, but there are fewer gophers😂

I really want a American Doberman for a family dog but I live in MS and all I can find is European ones. The closest I came was this great breeder in my home town and he has the American and European mixed and it’s only $750. I don’t know if I should go out of state for a American Doberman or just chance it with the mix?

I can't do the poop hack bc she sometimes eats her poop. She doesn't have any health conditions that should cause this, unless it's something she hasn't been tested for yet. I may try cayenne pepper if the other interventions don't work.

Well. So far nothing has worked. Mine is a pitbull mix with bulldog, German shepherd, and husky. I’ve tried cayenne pepper. She likes to hunt and she’s bored despite spending hours in day care.
