One of your group needs to carry a backpack with something bulky in it. Something that can stop a vehicle if run over. Six pieces of heavy angle iron about 45-60cm long welding into a pyramid. If the car tries to plow through you, drop the bag.

I realized the other day what the problem is. There's such a culture of being better if you own a car (people say it all the time in these videos) that there are too many cars because so many people feel that they are not enough without one. Is there a way to make it obvious that it's cool to use public transit and walk?

This is exactly the line of reasoning that stopham have used in previous videos. They've said, "if you can't find a place to park here, maybe you should keep your car at home and take the subway". The St Petersburg metro is a world class subway designed to deal with big volumes of people. It's beyond obvious that the cities have a maximum capacity of car volume but the Russians still insist on their antisocial behaviour through the use of their cars. Stopham is one of the ways to make it obvious that people are watching and explicitly disapproving of their poor attitude.

Some of these cities should take an example from New York. It's simply too expensive and time consuming to own a car let alone more then one per family here. Streets get cleaned twice a week so you can't leave it parked for more then 2-3days and the tolls to just get back into the city are $16. The subway sucks massive balls and hear only India is worse but hey. It's quick and affordable and get's you everywhere without roadrage.

Well we have same problems in ex soviet country - lithuania too. There are way too many cars and there arent any space to park in the building grounds and people just park on sidewalks or lawn well cant call it lawn anymore its just dirt and mud. And people has the same reasoning i need to get home and i need car close to my doors. Yet there are plenty of space in the street which is like 40meters away or there is large parking lot about 150-200 meters away. But for degenerated citizens of our country its too far of a walk. And whats worse the police dont even react to complaints and dont issue even those small 30 eur fines.

I used to think Russian police would be tougher than American police. If an American driver assaulted someone on the sidewalk they would be arrested with handcuffs on the spot. In Russia they get to leave. The simple solution to all this would be to install barriers at the road so only pedestrians can pass through, or put them in the middle between roads so drivers can't get through from end to end. But I love that you are making drivers accountable for their actions!

The sidewalk they keep enforcing here is so wide and paved in blacktop it doesn't look like most sidewalks. If these drivers can possibly find any space to squeeze through to beat traffic or take a shortcut they will do it. Most normal sidewalks are usually just wide enough for two pedestrians to walk passed each other or just a little wider than that. Maybe they can bring out and put traffic cones to stop these cars while still letting the pedestrians through. Love the channel. Keep up the good work.

Russian sidewalks are a heritage of the communist age when nobody had cars and everybody walked to move thus it is sensible to have such big sidewalks to support the big volume of pedestrians. It is forbidden by law for any car that is not an emergency vehicle responding to a specific emergency to drive on the sidewalk. This is a law that all drivers are supposed to know as a holder of a Russian driver's license. It is also expected that drivers should know the difference between the sidewalk and the road.

Yes. They should know the difference. Its a shame that some people feel entitled to drive where and how they please putting others at risk. As it is here in the U.S. there is no sign necessary to tell people they should not drive / park on sidewalks.
