😊 First Of All I Commend You On Your Video, My Guy. Like Many Of Your Viewers, We've Accumulated Quite A Bit Of Rod & Reels & Many Of Us Simply Don't Have The Time 😢 Nor The Finances To Afford Bringing In 8-10 Reels For Service @ A Bait & Tackle Shop . I Love ❤ Your Core Words, " Stop Fishing & Start Catching Fish"!!!!! Bravo Young Bill Dance 👍👍👍

Righty-loosey is for situations where the direction of travel goes "left". The friction would eventually loosen the bolt. On a bike, for example, one pedal has righty threads, and the other lefty b/c of this.

Ahhh gotcha good explanation - appreciate it brotha! Have a good day!
I’m not sure what all you are doing , what grease are you using inside gears what oil did you use on the shaft. The drag , how to grease the fiber disc

With proper care and maintenance, even inexpensive reels will last a very long time and function well

Nice video. I would suggest you line up the individual parts that you remove on a clean towel in the sequence you removed them so theirs no question as how to reassemble the reel. Also do your disassembly on a second clean so if you drop a small part off your fingers the part will not bounce off the table on to the floor and maybe be lost forever. Some of the above may not be needed because of your expertise but there are many non experts that will try this and need all the help they can get so they don’t botch the process and need to buy a new reel. A shirt would be nice as well.

Excellent, have learned a great deal. Have been fishing and cleaning and oiling reels for many decades. Never took one down this far. Thanks for the help. Have noticed on newer garcia reels, no screws to take off bottom cover. How do these things come off? I'll be watching for future podcasts.

I think that you have to clean the gears befor grease it up no ?

Less is more with grease. Especially if you're capable and willing to take it apart yourself to re-grease it. Companies glob it in there because they fully expect no one to ever open it.
@finesseoutdoors Жыл бұрын
100% spot on, really just need enough grease to see it it or "stain" the gear so to speak
@derrickbennett6389 Жыл бұрын
Will this mak it cast far like a new rod
@StopFishingStartCatching Жыл бұрын
Yessir it should - maybe not like a brand new rod but a definite improvement. If you add a little weight to your line you can increase your casting distance too. Thanks for watching!

Less is more. You put way too much grease on the main gear. It’s going to gum up eventually and cause more friction later on.
@StopFishingStartCatching3 жыл бұрын
Agreed...this one was really old/broken but we should have said that usually for routine care not to use all that much! Hope you ahve a good day brotha!

i soaked my reel in salt water while fishing and forgot to rinse with fresh water after....now its all stucked up..
@StopFishingStartCatching Жыл бұрын
yea I did that before - you'll want to open it up and see if there is any sand in there. If it's rusted you can try soaking it in some sort of cleaning solution. I got mine back to working somewhat but I eventually ended up just buying a new reel. Saltwater does some damage but if it wasn't soaking long (our reel feel off the boat and we had to dive down to find it - so it was sitting on the bottom of the ocean for like 20 mins) you should be good.

@ccrr19762 жыл бұрын
That music is too annoying. Can't watch the whole thing. BTW nuts that thread backwards with another nut with regular thread are called locking nuts. Read the manual. I can't take advice from a guy who can't be bothered to dress himself or doesn't understand what he's working on. It's sad that so many people pretend to be good enough to teach others just to be on KZbin
