Hey deano, in these challenges as you say things from the pantry cupboard like rice pasta etc are fine to use but I also think things like bread and potatoes because you don't buy them every day so I think you should be aloud bread and potatoes as part of the pantry stuff.

That was great Deano. You showed that you can eat well from Expensive Supermarkets, if you get creative. The meat items you picked up seemed well priced and good quality. This is M & S of course. You mentioned you could use pantry items, you didn't think of using flour to make some flatbreads. There is a great YT channel that has loads of easy and fast bread recipes. Maybe next time? I may have to go and pick up some of those M& S sausages to see just how they taste. 60% pork for £1.80 Next challenge, how about Home Bargains. They have fresh, frozen and tinned food available and is reasonably priced. Could you do 4 days?

M&S basic chicken & mince is great value & you really can taste they are decent. Their eggs are also very good. They do bargains on some loose veg but I would be tempted to buy that from Lidl who are easier to budget with & just keep the protein M&S.

Frozen veg is superior to fresh nutrients-wise because it is fresher. Frozen at source….not on a transportation journey from field in whatever country to UK supermarket shelves 😊

A tip for next time, if you get a cheap tin of chicken soup from wherever you're shopping it makes a great creamy sauce when a bit of onion is added to mix with pasta or rice! Silicon cupcake trays are best for your cooking muffins etc. as the bottoms don't burn and stick and frozen veg is better than fresh because it is flash frozen when frozen and doesn't spend 2 days losing it freshness like fresh veg can.

I don’t think the rice is cheating, but you need to use your herbs and spices more, most people have the basics. Soup - onion powder, garlic powder, mixed herbs or coriander or paprika. Chicken - garlic powder and thyme. Fried rice - white pepper, onion powder, garlic powder and soy sauce. Shame you were overcharged, you could have had got a larger box of eggs or a loaf of bread.
