Learn so much from your wk, thank you. Been wkg a photog site. Yet to find wk around so this hlpd me understand more, thnk you! Sadly the design for product images only allows one aspect ratio. Not the best for photographers wanting to showcase both without one cropping. I've got simple format slideshow in 3:2. Inspected css and saw object-fit set to cover as you explained; switched it to contain and the 2:3 image showed completely, but wasn't perfect, padding issues around it. Ended up exploring backend some more (I get a kick of figuring it out, it's like a puzzle haha) . Found I could tweak product basic item gallery css padding bottom to 80% for its scale, but still not the best. Trying to find the happy medium for consistency's sake across both aspects, as well as media is like searching for a needle in a haystack. I know some css, but am not a pro. Would love to understand this and welcome any helpful tips.

Thank you so much! I'm thrilled to hear you find my content helpful ☺ Funny you should mention it, that's a tutorial I recently added to my list of upcoming content. Your approach seems to be spot on, but I'm not sure what padding you're looking to tweak. Feel free to send over an email at hey@beatrizcaraballo.com with a link to the site and details about what you're after so I can take a look!

@@beatrizecaraballo you're amazing thank you! you'd be one of the FIRST out there to post this type of tutorial. I have seen countless people seeking and requesting help for this online and on the SQSP forums. The many fixes offered out there that I tried, but they were for other things, or not complete affecting other areas. I even went so far as to send an email to square space requesting that they add this because it made no sense to this graphic designer, from a design pov to have a builder that says they make it easy, and not be able to have that option within their design interface. Many creatives across various areas as you know have both landscape AND portfolio type images to feature in their shops. Last thing they want to do is frustrate their subscribers away. They replied that it was a good suggestion (I'm sure I'm not the first) and said they were going to submit to the teams for review, then suggested I go to forums lol Appreciate it!

@@mommasoto that's good to know! It would definitely be a great option to have natively! I have seen that problem come up for artists and photographers as well, so it's a very common issue alright! I saw your email, will answer through there ☺

The copy and paste code isn't working for me :( is it up to date for the current squarespace version?

I'm so sorry to hear that! The code is for 7.1 Portfolio pages, and the two snippets available inside the post are for the Grid: Simple and Grid: Overlay options. Go ahead and double-check the code matches the layout you're working with! Hope that helps.
