Yes it all sounds good, HOWEVER you will notice glitches in the TV's panel at around 6 to 10 months of ownership....you will be lucky to make it to 12 months without the screen going completely black. I have owned 3 U8Ks 75 inch (1 for my livingroom and 2 bedrooms) and only 1 of the TVs lasted 13 months the other two died after 10 months! What is going on with Hisense?? The TV starts off with a BEAUTIFUL picture and ends up with a dead panel that begins to glitch before dying completely! Unless Hisense has addressed the longevity of their panels in the U8N then I wouldn't go anywhere near a store to purchase the U8N!!

You're stating that the QM8 is "a little brighter" than the S95D and G4, Give me a break, their brightness levels are not even comparable! Particularly when you consider brightness stability across all windows. I'll never understand why reviewers like yourself, virtually any reviewers for that matter, never talk about brightness stability and ABL. It is the complete Achilles heel of OLED tech. The difference between HDR on a mini LED or high quality QLED and OLED is so vast that it might as well be a different format altogether. I was a staunch OLED supporter until I saw HDR on a high end QLED. I could not believe how big of a difference it was, I felt like I was seeing HDR for the first time. I'll never go back.
@cdragon887 ай бұрын
The irony of it all---FOMO literally tells you this is for daytime viewing in bright rooms. You are correct in saying that OLED drop offs in brightness are night and day---IF you are watching in a bright room setting. In a dark room setting and properly turned---the OLEDs have enough brightness to meet the requirements. You'd have to turn down the LED brightness TVs while maintaining brightness with OLED. But in this use case scenario, as provided by FOMO, no doubt, the brightness isn't even close.
@armylrs23917 ай бұрын
@@cdragon88 You're completely wrong. Even in a dark room brightness stability is absolutely terrible. Go on rtings and look at virtually any OLED that you're interested in checking out. Look at the brightness scale and you will notice that it jumps around like crazy. The image brightness is completely unstable. This affects picture quality whether it's in a bright room or dark room, it is the very reason why OLED has to use so many processing tricks in order to display HDR. If you are watching HDR on an OLED, you are watching an attempt at HDR, not true HDR. Picture a scene in a movie where you exit a dark cave into the blinding sunlight, your eyes are squinting because of the contrast between the dark cave and bright sun that you just walked into. This is the kind of realism that HDR tries to express but virtually every single scene like this is lost on OLED because of ABL and terrible brightness stability. You simply do not experience it. What you experience is an extremely neutered version of the director's intent.
@cdragon887 ай бұрын
@@armylrs2391 The irony of you and FOMO then. LOL. Most content is mastered for 100 nits. In a dark room, OLED easily hits that target. HDR is usually mastered for 1000 nits, which OLEDs can accomplish today at 10% windows and lower. ABL--you have the wrong definition of ABL. OLEDs do not have brightness stability issues. So to simplify in HDR content, you have SDR mastering 100 nits combined with HDR elements 1000 nits---in other words, OLED vs LED comes down to contrast ratio vs Peak brightness window size--in a dark room. Remember OLEDs can only reach 1000 nits in 10% windows and under for the most part.
@armylrs23917 ай бұрын
@@cdragon88 You made my point for me- they can only hit it at a 10% window or below and that is just a select few OLED and QD-OLED. The vast majority of OLED still top out at under 1000nits. What happens after 10%? What happens at 100%? Let me tell you- Even the best OLED has to offer cannot hit 300nits full field brightness. 90% of OLED cannot even hit a measly 200 nits fulfilled brightness at 100% window. So let's go back to my example; Your exiting a dark cave into the bright sunny day (or virtually any scene like this in HDR, and they happen often) ABL will kick in and your OLED will dim down to 200 nits and the full intent of the scene is lost. On QLED and mini LED it is not. . . The difference is night and day! Like I said if you own an OLED, you have never experienced HDR. The difference is so vast. For me the realization was when I watched top gun Maverick on my LG G3 and then happened to see it on my friend's mini LED. I was thinking to myself, it must not have been in HDR when I watched it at home because it looked so much more impressive on his set... Once I got home I realized it was indeed in HDR and that what I was witnessing was just the difference in technology. I'll never go back to go OLED. OLED is great for SDR but it sucks for HDR. Brightness stability is a real issue.
@thenonexistinghero7 ай бұрын
Sounds like nonsense because Sony's non-QLEDs were actually faring better in HDR tests than the QLEDs. Other brands tend to have more pop, but it's at the cost of accuracy and their local dimming doesn't really compare. Sony seems to be the king of the LEDs whether they use QLED or not. Though now their high-end LEDs do use QLED. But even if they weren't, they'd probably still be king.

You're reviews are going to benefit tremendously from the use of the HX3110. I always thought that always using certain OLED tv's as a benchmark is somewhat questionable, giving that they consistently crush a lot of shadow details, greatly rely on tone mapping, have limited HDR impact, and can't handle high APL scenes. It's great that you'll now have an actual proper reference display that you can use for many years to come. Will you make a video about the HX3110? I think a lot of your viewers will be interested both in the measurements and your personal impressions. By the way these type of comparisons are great, I hope you'll keep doing them.

Are you talking about TCL in general? I have a 2019 TCL QLED, glitches are minimal, and it’s been fine. At that sale price, you can get a 5 year Best Buy comprehensive warranty for around $200, which helps. I’ve had two LG OLEDS that developed pan defects (not burn in, but actually line deformities) in less than three years each, requiring returns or panel replacements. And I’m super careful with all my TVs. So far my TCL has given me the least amount of issues.

Hi can I tell you about my U8N 55" experience. First you really should have included it in your 2024 to buy list. If I would have bought an oled over this it would be a big waste of money. This is the brightest TV I ever owned. I watched the Geico commercial with Jamie and the TV interviewer. It can't do grey perfectly. I saw artifacts pixelating. It was minor but I noticed it. coming from a Vizio it was worse doing blacks because it couldn't. I see the processor making adjustments on the fly it's weird but you know that it is active. Every TV reviewer and I commented on Digital Trends it was an hour and 5 minutes just on all the set up and Google doing its thing and Hisense doing updates. A new windows laptop is faster

The Bravia 9 spanked the living crap out of the QN900D in KG stream. I don't even think that was an opinion just straight fact. I am not sure it would be brighter than a QM8 2024. But it will be up there and definitely have better processing and contrast and color and shadow detail.. That said now that you soon have your 3110. The truth can be revealed among all the TVs. I am not really into OLED because of my PC usage and ASBL would be really annoying. If that didn't exist G4 would be my otherwise pick if B9 was a total waste. But thankfully it's not. It won't beat any OLED in a dark room. But it will be close in most scenes and will have brightness advantage in SDR and high APL HDR. I think it might beat the G4 in shadow detail. And definitely in color luminance etc. I also don't sit in a dark room, but dimly lit light controlled room with ambient bias lighting behind the TV.
@thatsamazin-7 ай бұрын
I don’t think it spanked it. I think it beat it by a small margin. In quite a few scenes, the 900d looked better. It’s just that the b9 won in most scenes. In game mode, they were almost identical and both lacking imo. Game mode definitely looks and performs better on a newer oled. I’m not certain, but still leaning towards the G4 as the best overall tv. I’m gonna wait for more side by side comparisons.
